I agree. Tyson got stopped and took way more flush shots from Douglas than Toney did against Jones, but like I mentioned earlier Tyson still had his moments. People can say Tyson got beat up, but we can make the argument that he still showed that maybe on a different night and a more serious training camp that he could have beat Douglas.

Toney showed no such thing against Jones. Nothing at all. That knockdown was classic.

corrales was #5, IIRC, when floyd got to him

liston could have easily been p4p in the 60's when ali beat him. same with when he beat foreman, only duran would be higher p4p in '74 as far as i can tell. ring doesn't publish its p4p from that many decades ago.

leonard - duran 2 has got to count, even if duran was better at LW and when he was training hard.

bazooka gomez getting busted up by salvador sanchez

gomez vs zarate. zarate was probably past his best, and gomez was a much "Trueer" 122 lber, but the beating happened.

Or Trinidad when Hopkins got him?

Hard to get a feel for P4P ratings when i wasnt properly following the sport (or in SRL's case, not alive)
Trinidad Hopkins is a good call. Gonna rewatch that fight.

True. You'd expect Tyson at his best to wash Douglas.

Anyone with a brain cell can see that Jones would embarrass Toney 100 times out of 100.

But believe it or not deluded Toney fans actually believe that if Toney wasn't "drained" he'd have sparked out Jones in a round. But as is always the case with Toney.

There wasn't a Ring P4P list in the 70's. If my memory serves me correct there wasn't any P4P lists until 1980 (KO Magazine) and The Ring started theirs in 1989.

              Corrales was #5, yes.

Unless someone points out a better example, Roy beating Toney is my answer. Talk about thorough embarrassment. There wasn't one moment where Toney looked like he belonged in the ring with Jones. At least the other fighters mentioned here had moments where they were competitive.

Mayweather vs. Marquez is certainly up there, though the circumstances take away from the fight.

Nunn and Reggie had already exposed Toney's terrible flaw of poor footwork and struggling with a mover, but Roy took it to a whole different level.

That fight is the best example of two things; Toney's poor footwork and his poor ring IQ. I mean, talk about having absolutely no plan B.

Once It became apparent that Jones was 10 levels above him Toney just began winding up a loaded up hail mail right hand and hoping for the best and completely missing, constantly crossing his feet over in the process leaving himself completely out of position.

I remember when Roy Jones would blast him with 6 clean punches and Toney would stand their looking ****** talking to Roy and Gill Clancy said on commentary "you don't win fights by talking" reminds me of our convo abojt Toney-Broner comparison.
