Donaire wasn't in his prime, against Rigo. He was above his best weight and had for the 2-3 fights before it, been an exclusively 1 handed fighter who had fallen in love with his power. He was a much better fighter, before that.
My example would be Abner Mares getting knocked smooth out by Johnnh Gonzalez.
I could see that with Doniare. He was certainly a lot more devastating at Bantamweight.
Toney getting schooled by Jones was the first fight that came to mind. I thought of other ones, but that was probably the best example. Jones made a very skilled fighter and hall of famer Toney look like a b class tune up. I was kid then, but was still surprised at how Jones made it look so easy.
Pac beating down Barrera and Rigondeaux taking Donaire to school were also pretty damn impressive.
Douglas beat up Tyson, but Tyson still had his moments.
I also think Chavez wasn't really prime against Whitaker. Still a pretty good schooling.
Mosley was P4P top 3 when Mayweather dominated him, so was JMM.
Mosley wasn't even top ten when he fought Mayweather. He was a 4 to 1 underdog when he KOed Margarito and that win didn't make him top 3 or even top 10. Mosley was an old man and hadn't been top 3 for many years. Marquez was top 3 in a smaller weight class than Mayweather.
I don't think Hamed was top 3 P4P at any point of his career.
If you go by Ring Magazine that's true - they had him at #6.
Many writers at the time - NON Ring Magazine - considered Hamed the top featherweight in the world and arguably #3 on the list behind Roy Jones and Shane Mosley, with B-Hop #4. Had Hamed not lost to Barrera, he would have been #2 and Floyd would have been #4.

Shane Mosley was universally considered to be P4P #3 when Mayweather fought him.
