This has to be the video interview where the quotes were taken from for this article. The video is from is from Salazar just like the article, and the quotes from the article follow the questions he asked in the video.

It's kind of hard to make out perfectly what Martinez said, but it looks to me like words were put into Martinez' mouth.

He'll get most of the "fans" back in time...and while most of the fans might not like what he's done with GGG, they're still going to watch him fight.

Sure, I understand he wanted a "money fight", but he just had a money fight in Chavez jr and a "gimmie" fight in Argentina against Murray (which obviously turned out to be a very tough fight for Sergio and lucky it was at home).

My point is - if Sergio didn't lose to Cotto the cluster**** that followed would never have happened. When Sergio vs Cotto was announced I preached nonstop how important it was Sergio wins or else we would end up with welterweights fighting for the lineal middleweight crown, which is exactly what happened.

You are literally crying because Martinez/Cotto did not fall in line and hand the WBC title to your over-rated girlfriend.

Your girlfriend who has never paid his dues, and who lied to the fans.

Sergio is done with the sport, he doesn't really care about boxing much. He said so himself, he just sometimes goes to fights and watches some of them. I think all the corruption and businessmen just made him sick. Took him forever to get recognized and some decent opponents himself.

Canelo dissappointed everyone, he was given multiple chances but it just got worse and worse. Fighting Liam Smith now is just Oscar De LaHoya telling all the fans "We tricked you all, we lied to you, but the casuals will still buy our shit fights."

From the above boxingscene video from Salazar:

When asked about how he felt about Canelo giving up the belt, Martinez said it was a "smart move". Not a "smart business move." He also did not say this other part at all: "I don't think it would be smart to be put in a position as the bigger draw to give up so much. I think the fight happens later."

Then the follow up was if he thought it was disrespectful to give up the belt, Martinez said that it was probably the promoters that called the shots in that situation, not Canelo.

When asked about giving the award to Dibella, the article basically got it right.

When asked about how he felt about golovkin, he said "I think Golovkin is the best, and he'll be the best as long as he stays in middleweight.

Victor Salazar is always talking smack about Martinez on twitter, so I'm skeptical he said the missing line in some other mystery interview. There's other recent interviews from the bwaa awards where he basically said the Canelo was never going to fight Golovkin

Simple, by doing the fight on their terms they can determine the split. They can also schedule fights the way they want. Smith - Lemieux - Golovkin makes more sense than the other way around.

says the guy who also ducked GGG! LMAO

Plus, we'll see how smart of a business decision it is after the next Canelo PPV

There are articles that comment back in 2011 that he couldn't run sometimes and had to avoid running because his hips and knees were not ok.
He's not as bad as you think.

This is true... But who is asking him now to back Canelo and Oscar, especially having in mind their behavior in the ring after the Khan fight. Because Sergio never shouted that "Argentinians have balls" only in order to vacate the day after. But, well, whatever...

Anyone who says GGG didn't pay dues, at this point, is comical.

And even years ago, he had won WBA title and had multiple defenses via KO against top 10 ranked opp; Proksa, Macklin, Stevens, Rubio, Geale, Murray and Lemeiux were all legit ranked in the top 10 by ESPN, ring, etc. I'd really like to know what else GGG could have done to pay his dues over past 4-5 years other than fight app 3x per year, app 2x per year v top ten contenders and knock everybody out - to "pay his dues"

                    its really laughable

I disagree that most of the fans will watch him fight as they would have to buy his next PPV. don't know what the numbers were vs Khan, but I can guarantee they'll be a huge drop-off
