Smart business decision? That counts for little when it's been implemented in the most moronic way imaginable.

To be fair I've always called him a ****. Never liked Sergio.Who was he supposed to defend it against at the age of 39 and at the end of his career??
I get it that GGG is getting a lot of unfair stick from certain fans but you don't get to criticise Martinez for fighting Cotto, he took one gimme after pretty much fighting top middleweights one after the other. So piss off calling him a c*nt.
I wasn't a fan of him blowing off Dmitry Pirog multiple times making excuses and then fighting the Darren Barkers & Macklins of the world and I wasn't a fan of him blowing off Golovkin making excuses. Sure, I understand he wanted a "money fight", but he just had a money fight in Chavez jr and a "gimmie" fight in Argentina against Murray (which obviously turned out to be a very tough fight for Sergio and lucky it was at home).
My point is - if Sergio didn't lose to Cotto the cluster**** that followed would never have happened. When Sergio vs Cotto was announced I preached nonstop how important it was Sergio wins or else we would end up with welterweights fighting for the lineal middleweight crown, which is exactly what happened.Comment

The Chavez Jr. Fight was in September 2012 and Cotto was June 2014.... I wouldn't say he had just had his money fight. To be fair I've always called him a ****. Never liked Sergio.

Wasn't there a money and location dispute between he and Pirog? As I recall he wasn't willing to go to Russia because he was the more recognised fighter despite Russia being more lucrative location, I guess Macklin was a bum back then but he suddenly became a good fighter when Golovkin knocked him out.
My point is Sergio didn't do anything wrong, anyone in his position would have fought Cotto, Golovkin was still trying to fight Cotto when he dropped the WBC belt.Comment

Dzinziruk, Barker, Macklin, and Murray weren't his mandatories either. And none of those guys were as qualified opponents as Pirog or Golovkin. In fact Martinez only ever had one mandatory - Zbik, and he chose not to fight him.Comment
Exactly what i was thinking
