Do you think Spence Jr. is hyped overseas? GGG gets more hype in the U.S. than Wilder! Didn't Ricky Burns is beaten by Crawford, yet HBO doesn't have money in the budget for Crawford? Americans are very supportive of foreign fighters, and I believe we're not as supportive of our own:Fine, america did great for boxing and will continue.
Support Mexicans, Brits, Euros ect... based or fighting in the US.
What type of support had Calzaghe, Froch, Benn, Eubank or the Klits?
I wasn't trying to offend you and I have no problem with americans except the hype.
We need america in boxing, I would be bored if America didn't have boxing superstars anymore.
The problem is just like there was that annoying "great white hope" attitude there is now that "great american hope" in the heavyweight division.(and others divisions).
You need to understand from my non US Citizen point of view, how much I have been bored by overrhyped US HW prospect hyped to take the "title back to USA".
Spence is overrhyped, that's a pretty much good exemple.
The man has been an olympian and beat Algieri, and that's pretty much what he's done in boxing.
Billy Joe Saunders has done more for exemple, Olympian too and a pro title, and is a better fighter IMO, Ricky Burns who is a 3 divisions champion.
But they won't get half the press Spence had.

DERRICK JAMES ON AMERICAN FIGHTERS NOT GETTING SUPPORT:
If I go over to Germany to fight, I would be the opponent and looked at as the guy going over there to lose by their fans, the networks, and their media. And in the back of their minds, they would all be rooting against me to lose. But we as Americans, we accept the American fighters that we have, but we make Pacquiao a star. We trying to make Triple G a star and Kovalev a star and Tyson Fury a star. We're trying to make all of these foreigners into stars and we have American fighters right here in America that have phenomenal talent and phenomenal gifts, yet we look other places to validate foreign fighters over our own. In every other sport and every other aspect in American life, this doesn't exist, but why does it exist in boxing?
We try to find somebody to be a star and, oh, just so happens he's not American. What is that about? You think about this, look how many Americans were rooting against Dominic Wade this past weekend, hoping Triple G would knock him out and keep his streak going. You look at a guy like Andre Ward, who was the last American to win a Gold Medal, meaning he is the last male fighter from your country to wear that USA on his chest and win the whole damn thing, yet, he is the most criticized fighter on the planet now that Floyd Mayweather is retired. What is that about? I really don't get it. Andre Ward is not the first nor last fighter who will be inactive due to promotional issues or injuries, but I look at how they talk about this American hero, this American star, as if he's some fly by night guy. This guy represented this country well and to this day, he represents the sport of boxing well and he is the most criticized fighters on the planet. So we have to get behind American fighters and continue to love America and try to make this country better and make boxing better and bring it back to where it was and I think that's what Al Haymon is doing, so just watch out for that.

LOl. You started your post by discrediting Bob Arum, and finished it by quoting him to try and prove you are correct!Arum's lawsuit alleged PBC/Haymon was in violation of the Ali and Sherman Act. If they were in violation of the law they would be out of business. The lawsuit failed. How ****** do you have to be to believe Arum could prove PBC was in violation of two federal laws but decided to let them off the hook?
HBO Boxing pays promoters to put on shows. They have a certain number of dates to fill. They find the promoters and pay them to fill those dates with boxing shows. They can either approve or reject the fights they want to air.
Well maybe you need to tell Arum that because he disagrees.
HBO do not pay promoters to put on shows. They pay them for the rights to screen those shows. Obviously, they have some influence on the match-ups that promoters make, because the promoters know that if they make shit match-ups, HBO won't want to pay to screen them.
See the difference now between PBC and HBO? That difference explains why you see so many **** match-ups, like Wilder vs Arreola on PBC shows.Comment

But you can't have it both ways.
Wanting to be the international place of boxing with all the best boxers fighting in the US, and at the same time have a "nationalistic" crowd.
You should be thankfull and glad you have those guys "GGG, Kovalev" fighting in your country.
I wish those guys were fighting more in Europe.
Pacquiao, Kovalev, Postol, GGG, Loma all became somehow "adopted americans".
I disagree with Derrick James, he want it both ways.
Ward main problem is he's been inactive for a while, but as far as I remember, americans were rooting for him in the super 6 tournament.
Ward hasn't done sht for years, and honnestly, his tricky style and lacks of KO won't please the casuals. A shame, I know.
Floyd, hell, I was a Floyd's fan until he fought Oscar and became a superstar, then he became a paranoiac tool.
I can't stand this guy, and not because he's black, young and rich but more because he's arrogant, childish and egomaniac.
The thing about Floyd is you want to be a bad ass, beat your ex wifes, talk trash, hang out with some tough guys, be ******.
FINE BUT BE IT, and don't complain like a little girl because "people don't like meeeee buuuhuuuhh".
Floyd did screw up his "Leonard like america heroe profile" superstar to be the villain, that's his own damn choice bro.
Regarding Spence, he hasn't done sht YET to be hyped abroad.
And how does James knows Ward is the most critisized fighters oon the planet?
GGG surely has more haters, just read GGG related threads, same for Canelo who is called a puss by his own whole damn country.
Problem for Ward is he lacks charisma, crowd pleasing style and people DGAF about him, def not hating.Comment

Hell no Bronx, you guys are smarter than that.
Americans are rooting for americans.
They will root for the basketball"dream team" at the olympics.
Pro boxing is a whole different story, fighters represent their name then their country.
Obviously Kazakhs will root as hell for GGG, philipinos for Pacquiao.
Like they had something else to support.Comment

Don't see how Spence is overhyped. He stepped up in his last fight and completely annihilated a guy that had at least managed to finish fights upright against guys like Pacquiao and Khan. Does it mean he's better than those guys? No. Does it generate interest and make you wanna see him against the top guys in the division? Absolutely.Fine, america did great for boxing and will continue.

its pretty simple.
lilg is over 30 years old with over 30 pro fights, his team is always claiming that no one wants to fight him but on certain fights it has to make financial sense or the fighter isn't a big enough name.
Hypocrisy at its finest from lilg, lilg's team and the gullible gennday groupies (for those who feel guitly)Comment
