He's beaten 3 of the top 5 jr middleweights in the world according to the Ring magazine ratings. There's some new blood that has emerged near the top of the division. But, Smith is a solid foe.

That said, I would have hoped that the Sept fight would be a lil bigger than Smith. Khan was a tune-up/stay busy fight. Smith is kinda along the same lines. Everybody wants the GGG showdown. And maybe it happens. I figured it would be a lil easier to make with the WBC belt no longer a factor. But if that isn't gonna happen and Canelo is gonna resume his reign as the world's best jr middleweight. I think one of the Charlo brothers or Andrade would make a bigger splash if he wanted some new blood. If neither of those guys, he definitely has some unfinished business with Lara.

I doubt Canelo can make 154 comfortably, he doesnt even look good at the 155 weigh in. Time for him to move up to 156 and rule that division.

I'm still amazed at how throughout Floyd's career, he fought in and won major titles in 5 divisions. He won lineal titles in 4 divisions. Beat pretty much every top fighter in those divisions. Yet, he never took a risk.

Yet, a guy like GGG can fight in a below average division for a decade. Fighting one subpar opponent after another. Show no willingness to move up and seek out challenges. And manage to be praised by the same folks that criticize Floyd. I still have trouble finding sound logic in that mindset.

Agreed...& continuing on that line of thinking, if Canelo fights at 154 & looks like a shot fighter (or even loses), then the damage to his rep will be too far to be repaired.

Nothing to do with nuthuggers....it's about saying what's right and your fighter is running for his life against a fighter who actually weighs less than him when facing off in the ring lol...and then he's so **** scared that he's actually starving himself to avoid a fight with him by dropping to a lower division , face canelo is ****ed and what ever direction he go's in he looks pathetic ....you must be so proud of your fighter mustn't you lol

Canelo started at 139lbs. Subpart??? I think your mixing GGG resume with Canelo.

Most of the guys at 154 come in the ring weighing North of 168. And Canelo comes in the ring around 171-174. My
Lara, Trout, Angulo, Kirkland, Mosley were ALL within 3-4 lbs on fight night. You work at a sports book you should know this.

Terrence Crawford at 135 was in the ring at 152.
Maidana at 147 was in the ring at 165.
Austin Trout at 154 is in the ring at 172.
Angulo at 154 is in the ring at 174.
Charlo at 154 is in the ring at 175.

Canelo made 155 comfortably for non-title fights, he will make 154 comfortably for title fights. If you step on the scales and look full and healthy, you belong at that weight.

I don't thinki Oscar will let Canelo fight at anything higher than 155. I really want to see the fight, which is why I want GGG to accept, and I want to see if Oscar says no, even if GGG accepts. I'm not mad at Oscar for trying to protect Canelo. Canelo is only 25, and has faced Trout, Mayweather, Lara, Kirkland, and Cotto. If you're not impressed, just ask yourself: Who was GGG fighting when he was 25?

At least with the Cotto vs. Martinez catch-weight bout, one fighter actually held the title! In Cotto vs. Canelo, neither fighter had a title AND the fight was a CW bout @ 155.
