HBO believes Kov's size can defeat Ward, hence they steered him toward that fight and have no qualms about it. HBO knew Ward would beat GGG so they actively steered him away from that fight.

If you want to blame Ward, fine with me. Unfortunately for you, GGG and HBO showed us with their actions who they both thought GGG could beat at 168 and who he couldn't.
If Kovalev gives Ward a beating, watch how GGG "suddenly" desires to fight Ward! If K2 negotiates with Arum for Zurdo Ramirez, let's see if they demands a CW of 164!

All we heard from team golovkin was froch and chavez bring money and ward doesnt.

That sounds like buisness to me.

Team golovkin is getting what they deserve.

They are willing to move down for floyd, but not Canelo
They are willing to move up for froch or chavez, but not ward.

Golovkin is a buisness man just like the rest of them
Thank you brother! That's "business man" talk!

He's just not a successful business man like Oscar, Floyd, Miguel, and Manny. If he was smart, he would be negotiating a CW fight with Canelo. I would've proposed 157-158. How could GBP oppose that when Oscar and B-Hop for at a CW?
yeah, exactly. The funny thing is so many posters hated Floyd for this yet when the guys they love do the same, they give them a pass.

Not only that, but they seem to forget that Floyd beat Oscar @ 154, Cotto @ 154, and Canelo @ 152. All 3 were bigger men! Remember when he fought Gatti, he was supposed to be beaten badly because Gatti was supposed to be too big and strong! Meanwhile, we're still waiting for GGG to fight a Top 10 P4P fighter!

Nice story mate, except that neither Ward nor anybody connected with him has ever denied that back in 2013, HBO called Golovkin and Ward to a meeting and asked them if they were ready to fight each other. GGG said "yes" and Ward said "no"

Fast forward to summer 2015. Golovkin has a unification fight with Lemieux signed, and a contract from the WBC guaranteeing him a shot at the winner of Cotto/Canelo after that.

Then he gets an "offer" from Roc, wanting him to sign another contract agreeing to move up to 168 for Ward, at exactly the same time in 2016 as he was hoping, and expecting, to be fighting either Cotto or Canelo for the WBC and lineal MW titles.

No surprise, Loeffler turned it down and told them to come back in 2017, after Andre had gotten his tune-ups in and GGG had finished his business at 160.

I realise you need to try and find a way to blame Golovkin and HBO for that, but it won't wash.

              September 15, 2015:

"This it the thing. I'm a very respectful fighter and try not to get out of character and start talking crazy. If you really don't want to fight a fighter or its not a good style or not the right to do it - then say that. I have a problem with the trainer, who gets paid to say what he's supposed to say and the promoter gets paid to say those things. The truth is, they never wanted the fight and I've been saying that for two years," Ward told Fight Hub.

"The reality is when we offered them the fight, and this is before we knew he had a pay-per-view coming up. This was like a week before, I didn't' know anything about it. He wanted 50-50 and I said give it to him. I'm not going to argue about ten percent, give it to him. My lawyer sent back 'they turned it down in five minutes.'"

"If the shoe was on the foot, and I said that I was going to 175 and I was not going to touch Kovalev - I'll fight this guy and that guy, but if I fight Kovalev he's got to come to 170 or 172 - can you imagine what the headlines would be? And if my manager and my promoter were talking like they talk, can you imagine what the headlines would be? I don't want to talk about the guy anymore, I wish nothing but the best, but I think they hoodwinked the fans and I don't think that's right."

Do you have anything from HBO saying that, or only Loeffler? It's real simple, you believe Loeffler and I believe Ward. Loeffler said he got the e-mail hourS after he announced, and Ward said the e-mail was sent "like a week before." The reason I don't believe Loeffler is because he started talking about other reasons why, not just the timing of the e-mail:

                  October 9, 2015:

According to Loeffler , the offer was rejected because K2 had already finalized Golovkin's upcoming HBO Pay-Per-View fight with Lemieux - and the winner would become the mandatory challenger to the November 21st showdown between WBC champion Miguel Cotto and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Loeffler indicates that their strategy, since last year, has been to unify the middleweight division.

However, during that period they did explore potential fights at super middleweight with both Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

When it came it Ward, Loeffler and Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez made it very clear that a catch-weight of 164-pounds would be required. They also feel their boxer deserves a bigger portion of the monetary split. Roc Nation's offer was an even 50-50 deal.

Golovkin came under fire for his catch-weight demand. Loeffler explained that Golovkin fighting at the full weight limit of 168 would only be considered if the event was financially worth the risk. They felt a fight with Ward would not have generated the same financial benefits as a fight with Froch or Chavez.

“We’ve always said when we first got to HBO that we wanted to unify the titles. We said we’d move up to 168 for mega events. Fights with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Carl Froch would have been big events and that’s why we were willing to move up and we were willing to go down for a Floyd Mayweather fight before but we always said we wanted unification fights,” Loeffler told BoxingScene.com.

So you see, Loeffler had more than just a late e-mail as an excuse! Basically, his statements line-up with what Ward was saying, which is: HE DON'T WANT THE FIGHT!

BS, them going after Chavez and Froch both happened before he landed Lemiuex and the WBC mandatory.

Ironically, both happened around the time they also said they'd consider Ward.

But GGG has been saying since 2012 he wanted to unify.

Kov says GGG is better and hits harder. When asked if he can best Ward, he said he hopes so. When asked if GGG could, he said yes.

                      That says it all.

Ive only seen a few say that, and usually it's because they're being asked to fight him.

Of course, they've publicaly said if Ward gets his groove back and beats Kovalev they'd be interested in big fight, but after they unify. They would have fought Ward in 2014 too.

First off, no one offered Ward 164, k2 put that out there when they asked what would it take to make now (before GGG moves up).

And there would be no headlines, no one gives a damn about Ward. And Ward refused to meet Chad in the middle. Ward forced Chad Dawson does to 168 from 175, wouldn't even grant a CW fight.

Only difference now Ward is moving to 175, while GGG wouldn't be moving up to 168 before he unifies and breaks the records.

Ward was bigger than Froch and GGG is a smaller MW, Ward chasing him is kind of silky. It's not him testing himself, it's GGG testing himself.

And now Ward says never, while k2 has never said that.
