Ward never ducked GGG he's fighting Kovalev..tougher fight
Anybody arguing Ward ducked GGG doesn't make sense because Kovalev is better than GGG. He's bigger, better resume and hits harder. So you fight the more dangerous guy and you're afraid of the less dangerous guy? GGG didn't want it so, Canelo not fighting GGG isn't a problem because he set the tone in boxing that this behavior is OK. So now fighters moving up in weight now have an excuse to duck GGG. You didn't move up to fight Ward when you were willing to move up for Chavez Jr. Knife cuts both ways. Even if GGG lost to Ward it would have been a huge payday. He still be considered an awesome fighter and it probable would have given Canelo courage to fight him bringing in an even bigger payday. Decisions aren't w/o consequences.Comment

It doesn't work like that , GGG will gain weight , and be at a disadvantage , but a mega fight will happen , its not all the weight in this sport although its significant , its a risk to go up in weight and that risk can be rewarded in legacy defining wins and better prize split.
Not all fights have equal grounds in all accounts , mostly when different weight class are involved.Comment

Its not the same goldenbear , GGG and Canelo both fight at the same weight class , the guy dropped the belt to avoid is mandatory at his weight class , please don't mix those 2 scenarios together its a different level of duck , one is a missed chance of a big MW/SMW clash of the titans which is a shame but far from a duck , and the other one is a clear duck which we haven't seen in a while.Anybody arguing Ward ducked GGG doesn't make sense because Kovalev is better than GGG. A lot of fans were very disappointed that GGG vs Ward never happened, and probably never will.I don't see how this isn't the fight to make. For years posters have asked that undefeated champions they opined "hadn't tested themselves" were asked to go up in weight and fight the best boxer in that class. They asked for this so they could see those guys lose, but pretended they were doing it for boxing reasons only.
Well in GGG we have an actual champion that truly hasn't fought anyone great. That hasn't been all his fault, but it wasn't for any other fighter from the above paragraph either. these same posters have legitimate boxing reasons for this fight to happen but don't want to see it because the guy they like would lose.
I think the ward ggg fight has passed though. Sadly its another fight that fans got cheated out of seeing. Interestingly, certain fans are not as upset as they have been when other fights like this didn't happen.
Ward's injuries, law suites and seemingly never ending need for tune-ups before facing a credible opponent like Golovkin cheated us all.
Ward's size advantage would have given him a chance, but GGG's craftiness and power would likely have been too much for Ward, and I think Andre and Virgil Hunter both knew that.Comment
