Ward never really wanted it, always ducked the reality.
Ward knew moving up was a sure destiny for him because he got fat and can't make 168 anymore, as he admitted to Fat Dan. Problem was dangerous Kovalev was lurking around and Ward knew fans are going to demand the fight.

Ward thought long and hard about staying at 168 to avoid Kovalev, but no matter how his brain tried to assess the situation, his body was saying no. But he had to make a decision and the conclusion was to pick the lesser of two evils.

I don't know why GGG vs. Ward is continuously brought up when Ward is on a path to fighting Kovalev. From a purist standpoint, that is the best fight in boxing and all signs point to it *actually* happening this year.

Ward's train left the station, him and GGG are now 2 weight classes apart.

GGG is definitely suffering from a lack of opponents at 160, but holding onto this notion of him and Ward happening anytime in the near future is a waste of energy.

I for one couldn't possibly be more excited to see Ward vs. Kovalev. Holy ****, what a match up.

Ward was trying to give us the golovkin fight and the kovalev fight.

The 2 killers around his weight. Now we only get the kovalev fight

Ward had 2 long years to assess the Golovkin situation. He wasn't able to do anything. I'm not blaming him, if you read my previous post. He got fat and can't make the weight anymore.
