Listen this is the reality that almost every professional athlete faces. At some point towards the end of their careers they reach a point where their pay outweighs their performance going forward. Whether that be play on field has dipped or their ability to draw fans/revenue dips at that point they are faced with with the options take a pay cut or retire. Floyd is getting to that point. But unless he grabs another a superstar to help get him over 1m PPVs he will need to take a paycut no other way. The revenue pie he generates is getting smaller the numbers prove this. Outside of Manny and Canelo none of his fights have gone over 1m PPVs in the last 4 years. When he signed his Showtime deal he was getting 1.25-1.5m PPVs. And his last fight did 400K or less the worst he's done in a decade! But despite this fact you think a network will actually pay him MORE money? If you pay him 32m and it doesn't crack 1m PPV buys simply put you lose money!
Now a paycut for Floyd probably still makes him the highest paid fighter in the world it's not like he has to go from 32m to 5m. But the days of him selling 1.25m PPVs to fight guys like Victor Ortiz are long gone. Same for Manny by the way. Which is why Manny already took a paycut against Bradley. Unless Floyd fights Canelo or Manny again he will have to do the same. It's a matter of math and not a diss to Floyd. Where are you getting the extra revenue to pay him when his PPVs are dropping?Comment

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has denied the information which is circulating about the agreed upon purses for the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez showdown are "not even close to accurate." De La Hoya, who promotes Canelo, says there is no truth in the published reports which state his boxer is only getting $10 million to Cotto's published guarantee of $30 million.
"Look, I said - in the ring it's a 50-50 fight and outside the ring it's close to being 50-50."
