Floyd, Canelo, Manny would all sell out MSG but they too busy making more money fighting in Vegas in fights that literally generate 10X the ticket sales from what GGG did.

Two of those are retired but I agree, they would if they did. So that leaves Cotto and Canelo. GGG is obviously on this level as far as ticket sales go. GGG would have no problem selling out the small arena's in Vegas.

Canelo did almost DOUBLE the ratings GGG did for HBO 2.1m viewers to watch him fight Kirkland on HBO and almost 10X as many PPVs when both fought last year on HBO PPV. GGG struggles to sell out basketball arenas while Canelo sells out Baseball Stadiums. GGG's highest attendance is like 20k while Canelo has twice had about 40K in attendance. GGG's highest live gate (tickets revenue was 2m) Canelo did 12.8mil against Cotto hell Canelo did 3.5m against Kirkland and that was a stay busy fight! He isn't even close to Canelo not ticket sales, PPV, attendance.

GGG is slightly better performer then Kovalev and Ward it's marginal. But is nowhere near Canelo.

Those are great numbers and great point. Canelo clearly has him beaten there.

However, in this country at least, I really see Canelo's lack of English keeping him from being as mainstream of a star. When you need an interpreter to give an interview, it's just not as appealing. GGG doesn't speak great English, but he did learn and does the best he can. Pacquiao did the same which is one of the many reasons he got to be bigger than Morales, Barrera and Marquez. Speaking of which, why don't Mexican fighters speak English? Is it a pride thing?

Anyway, besides that, Canelo IMO is very likely to hand that belt over after Khan. If he does that and the WBA orders Golovkin-Jacobs like they say they will, then Golovkin picks up another belt and a win over a better opponent than most think he has faced so far. In the long run, I just see Golovkin's star carrying longer. I don't think Canelo beats him when they do finally fight and he's got a lot of Mexican fans as well. And the Nike endorsement does matter. Nike wouldn't invest their money in most fighters. GGG is a rare one. Maybe Canelo will get one, but I doubt it.

He hasn't passed Canelo in popularity yet, but being he has only been on TV in america for 4 years...He is closing the gap, and FAST.

He did LESS ratings then he did in his last HBO fight against Monroe and he went from fighting on PPV and failing badly and sent back to regular HBO for a reason. He did less ticket sales this fight then he did his prior fight. He's not closing no gap he has the exact same popularity he had last year. And tickets, tv ratings are slightly down from where they were last year.

I agree. This whole "What happens after May 7" is very pivotal.

Plus, if the WBC and WBA stick to what they said they'll do, they are lining up opponents for Golovkin. That is star power.
