Exactly. Once Golovkin got other options, moving up to 168 for Ward stopped being such a good idea.

"Everybody between 154 and 168" means they are going to pick the best options, based on the usual assesment of risk vs reward, within those parameters.

There has been a change of the Guard in the divison....Sturm is @ 168, so is Murray, Stevens never beat a top ten middleweight so i dont even know how he got a top ten ranking. Proska is gone. Outside of Lemieux none of them mean a damn thing at middleweight.

The fighters that matter TODAY in the divison are GGG, Canelo, Jacobs, Qullin, Lee and Saunders.....he has not fought any them. They are the top middleweights so how can I say without a doubt GGG is the best when he hasnt even fought them. The eye test is great for prospects.....when you reach a certain level the eye test versus ok competition isnt enough. Especially if you're being branded a monster, the best middleweight in years, blah blah blah...being the best is proven in the ring.

Only top 10 MW who's shown some interest is Eubank. I don't agree that GGG should have to move up either. 160 is WAY more prestigious than 168 with a lot more history. I just think K2 has been incompetent. GGG should just drop the nice European guy act and start showing up to press conferences calling these dudes b*tch @ss bums to their face in broken English. He may get more of a reaction.

Marvin Hagler also got screwed in his first title shot, got beer and objects thrown at him when he won the title. He didnt get much shine or publicity until he beat Duran and Hearns. Got a title fight after 50 fights....mean while GGG has beat some solid guys but had one belt he won in the ring and one gift wrapped. He hasnt fought any of the current top middleweights....regardless of whose fault it is, he hasnt. Therefore I cant say he is the best middleweight when he hasnt cleaned out the division yet. He is capable of it. But he hasnt. Therefore I'd like to see him become the champion before I say " GGG is the middleweight champion"
