true but thats what this topic is about "what the problems with pbc fighters"

Problem is they all expect to get paid top dollars for regular fights, and haymon is more than willing to oblige cause he get a % of what he pays them.

    its as simple as that.

So Arum doesnt get a %? Other promoters/managers/trainers do it for love of the sport only?

It should matter. Boxing has been secretive for to long. In other sports we know the salary cap and how much each player is getting paid. A promoter can come out and say the fight can't be made financially or a fighter is asking for to much and we have to accept it. If a GM says he can't afford a player we know if he's telling the truth or a lie. The more informed we are as fans the less BS they can pull on us.

EVERY manager gets a %. The difference for PBC is that they've eliminated the promoter's cut, allowing the fighter a bigger slice.

But let's just ignore that and act like only Haymon gets paid from holding fights.

We always know what a fighter gets because it gets reported to the commission.

Every other promoter has to shop fights to networks who get the last say if they will buy that fight yes or no, promoters do not have the last say.

Haymon has the last say since he pays himself and the fighters with investors money. Its in haymons interest to overpay fights cause he gets a bigger payday. No one can tell haymon no they will not buy that fight because he is not shopping fights to networks.

That is what is wrong with pbc fighters. Good for them moneywise bad for us as a sport.

No boxing fan should like what haymon is doing.

Your heavyweight champion is international, your Middleweight champion is international your superstar is from Mexico, your p4p fighter is from Nicaragua... When has the sport been this globalized?

                It's just a different landscape.

People seem frustrated after a big UFC event but come on. McGregor getting credit but Khan's being criticized for doing the same damn thing against a higher quality opponent? It's a double standard.

If boxing's cash cow fought the equivalent of a Nate Diaz on PPV you would be screaming murder.
Boxing is dead in America... Everyone a regional star..

Biggest fight after floyd-manny was cotto-canelo.. Couldn't even break a million buys,,, That's a terrible sign for boxing...

Just name in year in boxing history and you will have at least a handful of stars.. Today you have canelo, who can't even break a million buys in his biggest fight..

Name any year in boxing and it will have a handful of stars.. Except now

I'm talking beforehand. I wish the financials were as open as other sports leagues. Boxing is secretive and hides behind rumors. As much as I wanted the Lions to re-sign Suh I knew for a fact they couldn't afford him. I'm paying roughly $360 a year to HBO & Showtime for boxing only and I can't get a Stevenson-Kovalev fight. I'm being told it can't work financially between HBO and Showtime. It's all BS. I think it's a wonderful thing that boxing fans are becoming more informed.

Maybe that's the problem-boxing en****** are too invested in creating stars but not making great fights.

Maybe boxing needs to create "stars" a different way then they are now. Instead of making everyone a KO monster-why not make great fights and the guy who is left standing at the end-make him the star.

Agreed. I think we know that its BS. HBO wants to air the fight and reap all the benefits since it built both guys. AL signed Stevenson to prevent this since they banned him. Now HBO will not let Kov fight Adonis under any circumstance since AL will not let it be on HBO alone.

The politics sucks. As for the money, I like that fighters get more than the promoter since they do the work.
