I have a feeling that once Schaefer steps in as the lead matchmaker things will get much better. He was responsible for all of the great matches on the Golden Boy roster including Matthysse-Garcia.

When people talk about their favorite fights, ring entrances and presentation never come up.

My favorite moment of Duran-Hearns was when the ring card girl held up the card for round 2. Top 5 p4p ring card girl of all time. And the lighting crew for that fight was fantastic. Whomever installed the sound system for that fight should win an emmy. In round 1 when the producer switches from camera 2 to camera 5 you could feel the excitement.

          of course it does.

i made a thread about it and people shared the same critique.

Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that this forum hates anything even remotely tied to Al Haymon/Mayweather.

horrible marketing, schedule and suspect matchmaking at times...

They have delivered some high caliber matchups but too few and far between..

Also, no momentum... They never build off a big win.. UFC a guy wins a big fight, he enters into another big fight, and then another... PBC is the exact opposite.. What has fonfara done since beating chavez, or stevenson since he beat dawson.. Santa cruz had a huge win over mares, and russell jr had a huge win over jhonny gonzalez,, UFC would have made russell-santa cruz as their next fight, but instead PBC gives them TBA...

Too much protecting fighters.. PBC has khan, garcia, thurman, porter yet haven't matched them up at all vs each other.. That should have been a 4 man tournament right as PBC began...

that's a part of it but as explained in that thread, the ring entrances for PBC looks microwaved, cheesy, from the fighter introductions to the music, its hurried rushed compared to how ring entrances are historically in boxing. the aura is off in PBC events.

Do most people watch for the ring entrances anyhow? It was certainly no better than HBO where dumb ass Lampley or Kellerman attempt to talk over during the entrances while music is playing.

But anyhow, how do you suppose they fix it?

Entrances are vital.... It shows a side of a fighters personality, and can get people connected to that fighter.. Its a huge side of the marketability of fights/fighters...

                    Hatton and the chants
                    tyson coming down to tupac
prince naseem and his over the top theatrics
Tito ortiz coming down with the flag
Ultimate warrior running down to ringside..

Different entrances, but unique to that fighter and establishes a connection to the audience..

a Fighters entrance is a key way to raise your profile and build brand awareness
