I never said he took them from bell to bell. "That many shots" wasn't followed by a number. It was the amount he could take before he couldn't take anymore. And Diaz was tagging the **** out of him once he got rolling. Doubling and tripling his shots and McGregor could not guard against the left hook.

McGregor is a massive featherweight, and consistently held the size and power advantage at that "weight" (sounds like another ginger fella).
Nate Diaz is by no means a big guy, but McGregor couldn't manhandle him like he's used to. And as was pointed out before, when Diaz took shots that McGregor usually puts people down with, it caught him off guard.
Absolutely no doubt McGregor was up on the cards, his volume and aggressiveness early racked up points, but Diaz made the right adjustments and finished things.Comment

Pretty close, except that McGregor took Diaz down.
Diaz was just too big for him. Diaz was not only taller and longer, but also thicker (no ****). McGregor excels on the outside. Usually if you fight a taller guy, you have the thickness advantage but McGregor looked like he was a weightclass or two below Diaz. Did they say what Diaz' fight-night weight was?Comment

True about the takedown... I wasn't sure how hurt conor was, but as soon as he went for the takedown, i knew he was badly hurt,,Pretty close, except that McGregor took Diaz down.

his chin let him down, he took one clean punch and his speed and coordination were GONE.
He got dat Amir Khan chin, when you land clean on him, he needs like 20 minutes to recuperate, the complete opposite of JMM chin...Last edited by From Russia; 03-06-2016, 03:40 PM.Comment

Connor was never "great" so let's clear that up from the gate. Though I predicted Nate to lose, I said on this forum that his path to lwin was to break down McGreggor w/ his boxing and go for the sub. This is what Nate does. His boxing is plane Jane but, like his brother, he rains steadily and they can often out-weather opponents by these means. Nate is not a power puncher, he subs guys after weakening them.
Don't make the mistake of thinking MacGreggor "got caught". The 1+2 didn't crack him, he was steadily broken down. He is a hype job. Nate isn't great ether and he was basically fed to Connor but it shows you just how overhyped Connor was when he gets beat by a gatekeeping 155lber (Diaz was HORRIBLE at 170 in the past).Comment

McGregor definitely took more punches than he's used to & I'm sure that played into the outcome, but he was for sure gassed too. He was visibly breathing heavy in the 1st round. In the 2nd round it only got worse. I won't say that he lost cuz he gassed, but I also don't think he lost cuz he was getting hit. I think those two facts played into each other & helped led to his L. He also said in the post-fight presser that he panicked when Diaz was taking his shots & not falling down like previous opponents which I'm sure didn't help his gas tank at all either.
All in all I think Conor beat Conor more than Diaz did. He took a fight on late notice at a weight 25lbs higher than where he's champion. He seemed to be looking for a highlight KO instead of a W. He didn't seem to have much of a fight plan outside of this highlight KO. He seems to have learned little from his previous submission L's over 5yrs ago with his lack of much defense when he was on the ground last night. He seemed like a guy who'd already won & didn't expect any adversity on the night. I'd like to see a McGregor vs Diaz II rematch at 155. I suspect it turns out differently.Comment
