Explaining How McGregor Loss In Simple Boxing Talk

I'm brand new to watching mma. Does this sound right?

He was going all out and slugging early on in hopes of taking the opponent out.

Diaz is a tough Mexican and not small. He took those shots well (what some people call walking through) and broke McGregor down.

As the fight progressed McGregor couldn't keep Diaz off him due to an empty gas tank from loading up on big shots.

An early KO was out of the question. His best bet would have been to pace himself and go for the outbox strategy.

    Absolutely.

He should have done to Diaz what Dos Anjos done. Pace it correctly, batter that front leg that Diaz puts all Gus weight on, hit him with clean shots and don't try and force a KO, just take what comes.

He was throwing everything looking for a highlight KO and with the extra weight he gassed. Sh#t happens.

I disagree. I think he was fine and had plenty of gas. But when you take that many shots to the face, you simply get ****** after a while. That's what he did. I kept saying that if he tries to go for a takedown, it'll be because he doesn't want to feel anymore of those punches.

No head movement and ****ty guard left him wobbled on his feet. McGregor is bigger than a lot of people want to give him credit for. If they gave him credit for his size, then that means he only beats up smaller people in his 145 class.

Truth is that dude looked very comfortable at that weight and if he would have tried to do anything else other than box, he probably could have won easily.

Diaz got up off the couch to go to the fight. But the mother****er has fundamental boxing skills and can punch and take a shot. McGregor had Floyd on his mind and wanted to show off.

      The end.

It's interesting I'm watching the post-fight presser and McGregor admits he went into panic upon realizing Diaz could take his shots.

He alludes that he must learn how to break down bigger opponents throughout the course of a fight.

Time to go back to his boxing roots so he can outbox guys.

True but thats not McGregors style he is a power puncher who has fallen in love with his power his left is pretty much all he has.

Dos anjos and Aldo are technicians(Aldo just had the biggest brain fart in that Conor fight).

McGregor just wants to knock you out he knows no other way its who he is. Diaz was just tougher and better boxing all around he took mcgregors left and stayed in his face.

Diaz bros already have a strong following Nate Diaz just became the mutha****ing man.

watched it too as only a boxing fan, he was coccky the way hes putting his chin out there, hes the striker but he DID get tagged a lot and hurt by diaz in the second round. Hes fighting a bigger guy and maybe was not expecting to get hurt by his punches, once he got hurt, it was easy for him to get taken down. Maybe he overestimated how hurt diaz was based on his face, they said his old scars opened easily. I was thinking they would be close to stopping it based on cuts, by the end of the fight, his face was a bloody pulp.

At the end of the first, I was impressed by Diaz on the ground, mcgreggor was on top trying to get some punches in, but diaz was able to do all of this crazy chit with his legs to keep him at distance so he couldnt land and he was almost getting him in a hold before the round was up. Shows the big gap in the ground game of them both.

              Overall Id say:

****y additute, sticking chin out, going for KO and using energy > landing on diaz but diaz is a bigger guy and taking it > geting tired, now diaz landing on him > diaz as a bigger guy hurting him more than usual > diaz goes for the take down when hes hurt and its over

Conor was dominating, and then got coocky, clipped on the chin by a 1-2 down the pipe, didn't recover, got taken down and choked out..

In terms of boxing, this was basically khan-garcia or lennox-rahman
