why fight a bigger man for a title for that sum of money when they lowballed him....Rigo is undefeated, a gold medallist and the man in his weight class....thats not good money for that type of fight and stakes. I wouldve turned it down too considering title challengers have often made more with less credentials than Rigo

That's a very good purse considering his weight class and it would bring him notoriety. 2 division world champion, 2 time gold medalist in less than 20 fights. Holy ****. Then you can really call him The Ring God Doe.

This is what I'm talking about. Missed opportunities:

Rigo - Passed on opportunity to move up as mentioned
GGG - Passed on opportunity to become 2 division world champion and #1 P4P fighter in the world.
Ward - Passed on opportunity to become lineal champion in 2 weight divisions simultaneously like Mayweather

Mayweather and Pacquiao capitalized on these opportunities and that's why they are in the position they're in. I feel like these fighters nowadays goal is to become an opponent/B-side to an already established super star rather than bully their own way into stardom.

500,000 is BS.....They probably werent serious

I dont think Rigo is concerned with a side/ b side as much is he is about a fair amount of money.

if you watch the Loma interview he said that everything was agreed upon, weight, money... everything, when it came time to sign Rigo (or his team) decided it wasn't enough and they asked for more.

now i don't know if $500,000 is enough money at that level/weight, i am sure those guys don't make much more than 1 million because of their size (with maybe a few exceptions). That being said Rigo's hype completely evaporated since his win over Donaire, he didn't capitalize on that and maybe it was because no one wanted to fight him but lets be honest and say that with his style and his level of popularity he isn't making much more than $500,000 per fight and this was as good of an offer as he will get.

GGG didn't take the Ward fight but he had other multi million dollar fights around the corner... fights where he would fight at his weight and would be comfortable, Rigo unfortunately (or fortunately) isn't in the same position and his prospects are looking bleak.

all of them should have followed the klitschko model. unify the belts and fight your mandatories. make it clear that you own the division and instead of chasing one big fight, maintain control of the division for years on end.

GGG shouldn't have stepped aside for Cotto-Canelo. Canelo isn't going to be able to make 154 forever. eventually he'd have to come to middleweight and GGG would have had a lot more leverage than he's had waiting around like a *****.

doesnt help when your promoter basically says he cant promote you.

Ward could've done this but he passed on Bute and would've likely had to travel to get Stieglitz. What's funny is Ward's victims cleaned up the titles while Goosen was knocking him out in court. (Froch (WBA/IBF), Abraham (WBO), Bika (WBC).

Rigo never would've had the opportunity to go that route. Cherry Cruz had the WBC belt and Kiko/Frampton had the IBF and both wanted no parts of him. His biggest mistake was giving the organazations a legit reason to strip him. He should've been doing his part by knocking of mandos and not letting these chickens take his titles away without going through him.

this is exactly what GGG is trying to do but he gets a lot of Flak for it. For ward this is where he messed up he should have taken that fight against Bute, knowing what we know now it would have been his win and he would be the proud owner of the SMW division.

Wow. This guy is living in his own fantasy. He even lies about some silly video evidence. HBO offered the fight to both fighters about two years ago and Ward turned it down. Your ****** fantasy about HBO protecting GG is just that. Fantasy.

Doe all you need is common sense. Ward never made any effort to make the fight happen. That's fact.

He made a last minute offer just recently, not one or two years ago. THAT'S FACT. And he made it when the Lemieux fight was already in the midst of being promoted. Meaning, he made it just to save face.

Where was he after the Monroe fight? Or when Team GG was looking desperately for fights? He's blowing up smoke.

You clowns should stop saying fight could have happened. The offer was only made RECENTLY. Funny part is the offer had ****** conditions aside from the 50/50. Like he needs 3 tuneups first and the fight is supposed to happen a year or so later. This is unprecedented. Nowhere in boxing history can you find a fighter offering someone a fight when he's already fighting someone else. What if he loses?

These ****** pre-offers are exclusively Ward. The guy has become a clown and a huge joke.

you don't have to unify all of the titles for this strategy to be effective. klitschko never unified all of the titles.

it does take balls though. to have the confidence in yourself that you can keep winning over the long haul instead of chasing the one big payday.

rigondeaux, golovkin and ward weren't punished for being too good. rigondeaux was punished for being boring and ward was punished for pursuing a counter productive legal strategy. as for golovkin, he's on the verge of superstardom, but his team made a big mistake by making themselves subservient to canelo. taking that step aside money put him in this awkard limbo he's in now. he never should have let canelo get that belt. was very foolish. i know the step aside money was large, but it was still short sighted.
