Bottom Line. Do you think GGG can beat Canelo at 155?

Well that's fair enough you're entitled to class him as whatever you want but the fact remains he's the Lineal Champ until he's beaten. That's the way it is, always has been and always will be.

    I don't like it but I don't have a choice.

I don't know other than nelo thinks he can fight better in a drained state than GGG can. Nelo is used to it, floyd gave him practice.

But gggseems to have to make nelo seem as the a side, so maybe should, then ruin the kid in the ring.

      • All I hear from GGG fans is how easy of a fight Canelo will be for him. If that's the case then 155 should not make a difference. GGG should take the weight and embarrass Canelo at his own weight preference. Would be the ultimate legacy victory and he could force whatever weight he wanted for a rematch or any other fight.

        • It's impossible to tell how GGG will look at a weight he's never fought at. He deserves to get some mockery for claiming he could make it, but we haven't actually seen him at the weight and nothing chnges that. As long as Alvarez holds a middleweight belt and balloons up 15 lb's on fight night, he's a pu55y.

Yes GGG could do that. But in the meantime nelo will be ripped to pieces verbally by people, he's the new cw king

Froch has actually been in with elite opponents. He was matched tough.

Lineal titles have to be legitimised the same way ABC titles do

The sole aim for a world title is to show the best. It's a severe flaw in the lineal system that prevents it from being prevalent in the sport

                • There is only one way to find out... make the fight happen.

In a perfect world, the fight should be at 160, obviously.

In this world, the fight is at whatever weight Canelo wants it, for a number of reasons. In no particular order.

                  1) Canelo is younger, the more the fight "marinates", the better for him
                  2) He is more known and has a bigger paying fanbase
                  3) He already fought Floyd and Cotto and made big money, GGG hasn't
                  4) Even if he is hated on by people or stripped by the WBC, his fans will defend him and his haters would be very likely to pay, hoping to see him lose -if- he ever needs/wants to fight GGG.

In short, Canelo can wait, he can afford some hate and has already fought big names. GGG cannot wait he hasn't fought anybody noteworthy.

If GGG wants the fight to happen, he'll most likely have to negotiate a catchweight.

Let's be clear though, 155 is bs.
Canelo is draining himself to make that weight.

                  • I don't think they'll fight each other, Canelo and Golovkin. One guy keeps saying he isn't a MW, and the other guy has fought nowhere else.

WBC won't strip Canelo, I can guarantee you. If Golovkin holds to 160, Canelo will walk away keeping the belt and leave Golovkin in the dirt.

Fair? Nope. But that's boxing today.

That's the thing, it doesn't. The ABC titles have rankings, sanction bodies, mandatories, they have rules.

The Lineage doesn't. The Lineal is just simply tracing the Lineage. No more no less.

Another poster said it earlier, the Lineal titles credibility is getting weaker by the day. For this reason exactly.
