Really?
This is just one example of it (the most famous)
Brush up on your boxing history, get educated on the sport, then reply.
You guys sound so ******
"It's never happened in boxing before, I've been watching since 2014 and I've never seen anything like it. It never happened back in the day even though I have no clue."
My God.......................
Excellent lie.Comment

Stop posting garbage.
SRL vs Lalonde was for the WBC SMW title, which had just been introduced, as well as the LHW title. That was why it was fought at 168lbs.
After the fight Leonard relinquished the LHW title without even trying to defend it against anybody.
The SMW title was the only one he kept hold of and defended, but never against a mandatory challenger.
That was nothing at all like what Canelo is trying to do to GGG, which is to impose a catchweight on a mandatory challenger who fights in the same division as him.Comment

The fight was for the WBC LHW title because Lalonde was the title holder. The WBC SMW title was created JUST for that fight. The fought for both belts at 168.
The LHW champion was brought down to 168 to defend his belt simply because SRL wanted to be a 5 weight champ. SRL had to vacate the belt because he REFUSED to fight any of the LHWs unless it was at the CW he wanted. He even celebrated vacating it. It was a sham.
There is a reason he never fought at LHW again and stayed at 168.
What he did with that LHW belt is exactly what Canelo is doing now with the MW strap. The only difference is, Canelo won't vacate.
Get real. SRL did EXACTLY (Worse actually) what you people are whining about. Canelo is just seeing it through.Comment

Asking for a compromise?
Is this before or after he said on NATIONAL TV he'll fight Ward at 168 or 172?
Which one? I forget? Did Dawson say that, or is Ward a shape-shifter? I could of sworn Dawson said that....................

How were they not the same? What SRL was worse. You try that now, you'll be racked through the coals for stuff like that.
That happened all the time in the 70s and 60s. The reason why it never got the scrutiny it gets now is because of the very light coverage.Comment
