He didn't need any excuse because Ward never was serious about fighting GGG and never put a written offer to fight on the table. Ward called him out in the media as a publicity stunt. GGG couldn't possibly have fought him at the time Ward called him out in the media because he was in hard training for a contracted fight with fellow middleweight champion Lemieux. Ward's unreasonable fans expect GGG to cancel his fight with Lemieux immediately and get sued just to fight Ward on Ward's terms right now. Even if GGG did that Ward would not have fought him. Ward had zero fights for many months after he made the verbal challenge to GGG. If Ward was serious about fighting he would have fought another good fighter instead of GGG. Poor little baby W was too sick and injured to fight anybody. Ward fans demand GGG cancel his fight and fight Ward immediately or he becomes baby g. Yet these same hypocritical Ward fans have no problem with Ward stalling for over a year before fighting Kovalev. Ward is the guy holding up the show with tune up fights when he could have made the Kovalev fight long ago. It's a big fight and doesn't need to marinate but team Ward put it off as long as possible.

Recent quotes supposedly from GGG are false, he never said Ward turned down a fight 3 times and never said Ward changed weight in Amateurs

ZERO Discussions 4 a Ward fight, but funny to see Floyd/Cotto fan reactions when CW and A side linked to #GGG, Not Allowed, #GotEm #157 #152

Let me guess you just started following boxing. Sanchez and the rest of this horrible team kept stating that Ward didn't deserve a fight with Baby G because he has been inactive too long. So why turn around and say his inactivity is not a disadvantage? When at first you used it as an EXCUSE so Ward wouldn't put them "paws" on him.
Neither Sanchez nor Loeffler have ever said that Ward didn't deserve a fight with Golovkin because of his inactivity.
Virgil Hunter said that Ward would need a couple of tune-ups first, but you conveniently forget to mention that.Comment

@DaRealDULLAH @EliasWallace @M_RagingBabe @jethang Ward wants tune up, Cotto= No, trust me we've tried

Tom just said the reason they'd pick Hopkins over Ward is because Hopkins has been more active. By the time the Hopkins fight would happen, summer '16, Hopkins would have been inactive for two years.Comment

According to Tom, Ward didn't turn down a fight.

There were no offers made to Ward because he had already said he needed a couple of tune-ups first and HBO had already told K2 and Roc that GGG/Ward would not be a PPV fight at that point so there wouldn't be enough money to fund it.Comment

But you just said Ward turned down the fight 3 times. Did he turn down the fight 3 times ore were there no offers made? According to Tom, Ward didn't turn down the fight 3 times. According to Tom there weren't even any negotiations for a Ward fight. So which is it?Comment

The option to pick Ward wasn't even there any more as Andre had already signed a contract with HBO to fight at 175.
All Loeffler said was that BHop would be a better opponent than Ward because he had been more active.Comment
