(and not just your speculative opinion, but actual facts)
They turned down Sergio Mora for some time then I believe eventually changed course. They moved Ward away from GGG and steered GGG toward Canelo. These have both been documented over and over.

so before Canelo won the belt that GGG is mandatory to... how did they steer GGG towards Canelo... if this was well documented then please enlighten me... how did they steer Ward away? by giving him a deal if he fought Kovalev? is that what you are referring too? there are reports Ward refusing to fight Golovkin on multiple occasions, were those reports false? i don't know for sure so i am asking you, you likely have more inside information than me... probably documented as well, i am sure everything that Ward's team and Golovkin's team said you've cross referenced and double checked.

Lampley said Ward v GGG wasn't the fight everyone wanted but Ward v Canelo. he said this in a post fight interview on HBO with ward standing right next to him. I forget the fight but the video has been posted here on NSB. Then on fight game he reiterated the same thing on the fight game, talking up a GGG v Canelo fight as a huge event.

Perhaps cause Ggg vs Canelo is a huge event, and Ggg Ward isn't?

and he was 100% correct. Ward-GGG appeals only to the hardcores, but for mass appeal GGG-Canelo is the bigger fight. That is simply a FACT

but on the other topic, turning down Mora is your evidence of HBO turning down good opponents??? lol whatever.....

It's a good first step. Haymon/HBO has been off the table for so long that it's been pointless to even discuss.

It would be great timing too. One of the reasons I'm a big fan of Golovkin staying at MW is because majority of SMW 'elite' are Haymon fighters. If the doors truly open to Haymon/HBO working together, Golovkin moving up sooner rather than later makes sense.

Not when he said it. At that point, Ward was the #2 p4p fighter and GGG was a hot name. Boxing fans wanted that fight. To suggest it shouldn't have been made because the espn/deadspin crowd wasn't calling for it is ******ed as they have no idea what a quality fight is.

GGG/Canelo has more mass appeal because Canelo has more mass appeal, not because Canelo is better than Ward. More people call for GGG/floyd then either fight becuase floyd is more known.

Don't lie to try and deflect. I posted turned down good opponents that might beat him (ward) or opponents that he wouldn't get an easy KO (mora).

or perhaps because Ward would beat GGG and wasn't afraid to fight him, which was in direct contrast to how HBO was marketing him.

Casuals put a lot of stock in undefeated records so it makes sense HBO would protect GGG's record until the Canelo fight.
