he turned pro as a malnourished tennager.....of course he was gonna weigh low....notice his weight jump once he made money.....use your brain man....its not like Nonito Donaire who was a solid flyweight, also had a good amatuer career and was a natural flyweight...manny was a kid.....Nonito phsyique got softer as he went up....Manny's body was maturing and if he came up in better conditions he wouldnt have been fighting at such a low weight to begin with....do your own research man
Should Manny Still Be Placed Above Floyd On The ATG List?

I always gave manny his credit as an ATG...he just was never a better fighter than Mayweather....nothing more or less....deal with itIf you had more than one brain cell, you would know that I brought up SRR just to point out how ridiculous that comment of yours was. Then you came up with equally ridiculous post saying Manny hasn't cleaned 135, 140 and 147 thus he's not ATG.
What you're doing is setting some ****** standards, and if a fighter you criticize don't meet them, they're not ATG in your book.
Manny Pacquiao is a 8 division world champion, fighter of the decade and widely considered as one the best fighters of the last 20 years. Every self respecting boxing historian and fan know that he's an ATG and your ******ed standards won't change that.
You don't know **** about boxing because like I said, you're narrow minded and biased. However, you're too damn dense to realize that.
See the post above ^^
And I don't care that he turned pro to support his family, it's completely irrelevant to the discussion.
What is relevant is the fact that a kid who weighed 98 pounds when he was starting, won titles in 8 divisions, fought and bullied men that were much more naturally bigger than him.
Manny Pacquiao is an ATG and this ridiculous conversation is over.Comment

they avoided slick guys after they saw how he dealt with Marquez...could never clearly get by himreal talk and he AVOIDED ZAHIR RAHEEM who had JUST beat erik morales by UD
and i remember in the telecast jim lampley particularly sayin' that manny paqcuiao SHOULD AVOID ZAHIR RAHEEM "bc their styles don't mesh" or some coward **** like that. and what did manny do? he DUCKED HIM
Raheem beat Morales when Pac couldnt...Pac cant cut of the ring...he couldnt then and cant now
Raheem had the talent and skills to outbox Manny which is why he fought a come forward type in Diaz for a title at 135 and went on streak where he fought nothing but slow foot face first guysComment

People saying yes or no, what is your criteria?
Mine, as is always the case when ranking fighters is based on achievements, titles won, opponents faced and at what stage, number of defences of titles, skill set, entertainment value and mainstream appeal.
Pacquiao scores higher than Mayweather in almost all those categories. He was already a great fighter before the Oscar/Cotto/Marg/Bradley fights. Beating those guys and beating JMM for a 3rd time just solidified his position. Of course, there will be a lot of American bias for Mayweather, which is understandable but how many of those categories would Mayweather rank higher in?Comment

You're arguing details, you're right, I made a mistake on his age because I don't follow Pac quite as close as you assume. 36, 37,38...old muther****er for boxing, over half a decade in age, more wars, a brutal KO by a guy who was never able to put him on the mat...that holds a ****load of weight as to how done a boxer is vs getting out-boxed by an over-looked tuneup you jumped up a weight-class to fight.
Floyd's resume was always in question due to its highly protected nature. Pac is the only ATG on his resume. Even the HOF's he's faught over the years never were great (Castillo, Corrales) or past prime (Hernadez, Mosley, DLH, possibly Cotto). Floyd even states that it was his most important win. My "career defining" may be a bit of an exaggeration but more truth than lie in that statement.
Telecast is bs, Pac would have gotten 100x more heat for "ducking" morales. Pac was 1/1 @ 130 and had a rematch scheduled with Morales before Zahir loss. ****** argument considering Zhair lost next fight putting any claims of Pac jumping yet another weight class, after only 3 fights, to rest. He did make the climb to 135, for one fight two years later.real talk and he AVOIDED ZAHIR RAHEEM who had JUST beat erik morales by UD
and i remember in the telecast jim lampley particularly sayin' that manny paqcuiao SHOULD AVOID ZAHIR RAHEEM "bc their styles don't mesh" or some coward **** like that. and what did manny do? he DUCKED HIM
[QUOTE=BlackSoul;16435477]And yet in this thread you said multiple times that he is a grade C- fighter. Now your flip-flopping to try to save face.
Manny Pacquiao is a 8 division world champion, fighter of the decade and widely considered as one the best fighters of the last 20 years. Every self respecting boxing historian and fan know that he's an ATG and your ******ed standards won't change that.

he's considered that by those who have a VESTED interest in promoting a fighter they helped to HYPE up which gives them credibility as boxing writers and "journalists"
i said he is a top 50 fighter ALL-TIME nothin' wrong with that
Perhaps Raheem did have the skills but he was @ 135 (Pac was just 2 fights into 130) and he immediately lost his next fight. Only "slick" fighter you can honestly say he "ducked" was Guzman...but Pac did fight the 3 guys ranked higher than him so what was the point?they avoided slick guys after they saw how he dealt with Marquez...could never clearly get by him
Raheem beat Morales when Pac couldnt...Pac cant cut of the ring...he couldnt then and cant now

you really want to take every word he has said as gospel? That's a HUGE can of worms that doesn't work in your favor.Last edited by madsweeney; 02-02-2016, 01:31 PM.Comment

wow...basically they said manny should go back to 126 and feast on featherweights....yikes...even lampley said it smdh...**** **** **** B!TCHES!!!!Comment

What's your point? Stuart and Lampley agreed Zahir wouldn't be his next apponent, he should stay in his weight class 126, not jump to 135.Last edited by madsweeney; 02-02-2016, 01:49 PM.Comment

Agreed...
I agree. Don't argue with these idiots, man. They aren't REAL boxing fans. They are ignorant boxing fans. Bradley is a true WW. Period. Floyd is bigger than most think and is a cheater. How long has he been juicing should be the question. How come nobody ever did a thread about that??? But they can criticize real fighters like Manny? Bradley? Ward? SRL? Duran? etc. IDIOTS!!!!!!Comment
