Big Calzaghe fan here, after he beat Mikkel, I gained a lot of respect of respect for him and he definitely won a true fan that night. Watched all his matches back then.

But don't act like Ward would not present exceptional kinds of troubles, that Joe had not previous before met, and if we look at it, the Hopkins fight was close, so ask yourself what style in SMW represents the closest to Hopkins technical ability. I say Ward and Ward would be 20 years younger.

I think Joe fights like a dragon till the end, but Ward manages to keep up and give as much as he takes. I voted too close to call.

Calzaghe is probably the greatest super middleweight champion of all time....Ward isnt a good style match up for him



Ward doesnt have much trouble with southpaws....I think he would also be physically stronger than Calzaghe

Calzaghe would get outboxed....an old Hopkins gave him trouble and outboxed him for long stretches.

Calzaghe will try to outwork Ward while getting hit with clean jabs and potshots...when Calzaghe gets inside he will get mugged

Ward is far more skilled. Calzaghe only has handspeed and output.

Calzaghe only beat ancient hopkins on output alone. Hopkins landed the harder, cleaner shots all night. Some said hopkins won, which IMO was too far to call and I had calzaghe winning on activity but was NOT impressed.

As long as ward lets his hands go and doesnt shell up, he will do fine.

Calzaghe OPENLY ducked prime jones. There are plenty of direct quotes on him saying roy was too good to fight. Go look them up yourselves. Both back in the day and quotes before fighting ancient jones. He admits to ducking prime jones and fighting ancient jones only because he knew he could win easy. THAT is why he gets the hate.

Let's be honest for a second here, Calzaghe was not an elite fighter. Sloppy, feather-fisted and constantly off balance. Ward would have schooled him with one hand behind his back.
