Joe almost got beat by an old Hopkins, many think he won that fight. Hopkins put joe on his azz and if he had the endurance to prolong his strategy the fight would have looked like the Pavlov fight.
Ward is not going to let Joe slap away from a comfortable distance, he will force the fight inside and catch joe all day to the body. Joe never fought a fighter with the skill level and mobility at prime that Ward displays. Guys like Ward control the pace of the fight with distance, timing and accurate punching.
Joe can't simply outpace Ward anymore than Manny Pacquio can throw the same number of punches a round against Floyd that he can against Margarito.
Calzaghe does very well against stationary guys who are past it and cannot deal with the constant barriage of slap punches. Even Robin Reid with his mobility gave Joe fits. Watch the Dawson fight, when Dawson goes to set his feet against Ward to get some idea about what Joe would look like trying to barriage Ward...no way it happens that I can see.
Still winning titles.
Calzaghe believe it or not was a power puncher. Unfortunately his hands didn't agree with this.
By the time he fought Hopkins his hands were so badly disfigured he couldn't put any weight into his punches.
Yet still got the nod away from home, that decision was helped by boxing stat records hit the guy more than you get hit and the result is yours.

yep he was a power puncher before he hurt his hands. look at him knocking these fools dead early in his career when he had healthy hands. i can fill 6-7 posts with these so should we post all his "knockouts" or maybe he had so much power the refs knew this and had to save his opponents before they actually got hurt. thats some next level psychic sh-it!

plausible deniability is a powerful tool. you don't want to watch the fight closely and see calzaghe hitting air while hopkins counters between his punches so you bring up something completely wrong. you could make a good argument saying well if they were wrong against hopkins maybe they will be wrong against ward and its true they might fu-ck up again! it is boxing after all. kenny bayless fu-cked up in maidana-floyd 2 and he failed upward and got the floyd-pac fight...where he fu-cked up again lolLast edited by daggum; 02-21-2016, 04:31 PM.

Ward by destruction, most likely KO's him.
Ward wasn't even in his prime when he dismantled Joe's best career win at just 25 years old, he completely battered Kessler whereas Joe actually struggled with him for a couple of rounds.
Ward maintains distance, picks off Joe's slaps and counters him all night landing flush shots that most likely drop Calzaghe.

here's another one where its calzaghe getting punched but they still stop it in his favor. that is "power"
this one's for all the people who say he only slapped later on in his career after hurting his hands.
