The argument that Canelo's not a true MW would be more valid if he wasn't showing up in the ring weighing 175lbs.

Politics (A-side leveraging) aside, what real purpose is there for Golovkin/Alvarez to be at 155lbs when in their last three fights, Alvarez fights at 175lbs and Golovkin has been fighting at 170lbs?

A bigger fighter like Golovkin concedes coming down in weight to make the size differential more fair against a smaller fighter. But what purpose is there to do so when the supposedly smaller fighter already weighs more on fight night? That's the difference between Golovkin asking Ward to weigh 164 or agreeing to face Mayweather at 154 and Alvarez asking for 155 (after he already asked Cotto for 156....)

Do people even realize that Alvarez won't be allowed to fight for the IBF title due to his massive weight gains? The WBC are changing their rules also to be similar to the IBF rehydration limits, soon Alvarez won't even be allowed to hold the MW title with his 155lbs demands.

      Middleweight = 155-160.

160lbs is just the limit. 154 is the limit to JMW, Canelo has been over the JMW limit since Mayweather in 2013.

Canelo also has a middleweight belt.

Only if you are an ignorant casual fan.

What fkn middleweight weighs 155, you genius ?

And I will call you a silly ****, because that was explained in the post you replied to.

The same dumb people, saying the same dumb ****.

        Pretty fkn ****** man.

Why don't you put your calculator away and use some common-sense ?

Coming in 1lb over, out of entitlement, just because you can..... does not make him a middleweight..... you utter tools

My man, no disrespect, but you are 100% wrong. That absolutely was a WW contest, even though both went back down to 140. The weight limit of the fight determines what weight classification you are in.

Canelo fights above 154 lbs and has since he lost to Floyd. The decisions in these fights are classified as MW decisions. Once you hit 154.1 on the scale, you no longer qualify for JMW.

I understand your points, but that isn't how things work. Canelo is a MW because his last 4 fights have been at 155, which is between 154.1 and 160, which makes these fights MW fights.

That's what everyone thinks until they get hit.

Once GGG lays the hammer down, thoughts start to change mighty quick. Saul and his coach will see that soon enough if they really do decide to fight him.

The kind of MW who is young enough to drain him self down as close as he can to 154 but can"t because he doesn't want to fight at MW.

Golovkin is a pretty good fighter, as good as some people say I don't know about all that but whatever maybe he is. Canelo is pretty good also, I think I have a pretty good grasp on what he is and I do think he will give Golovkin some issues.

I don't know if that is enough for Canelo to win or not but that is why they do actually fight, I still don't think the fight takes place until 2017 though.
