i know, but thing is the last IBF #1 ranked fighter got less than what barrera was offered here to fight the champion. that alone should tell you what barrera has here on the table is a good offer. if he wants to go right for kovalev hell most likely end up making less IMO

Barrera is top 10 with BBC, WBA and IBF. If not for a visa problem and injuries to Betebiev, he would have been fighting Artur next in a final eliminator for the IBF title.

Whether this offer is worth his while depends on what he gets out of it if he wins. His ranking would certainly drop if he lost.

Edit: Just checked and found out that Barrera is now mandatory for Kovalev after his win vs Murat.

So how confident do he and Sanchez feel about dealing with Ward?

yes im aware but barrera also had 6-7 different guys initially pass on fighting beterbiev before he even got into this position. because of the injury the IBF didnt bother re-offering the guys before him. so this is golden opportunity for barrera where hell like get more for this fight than he will vs kovalev.

If it is 300k he should take it. 300k is a good payday for not being known.

It's actually more than the last IBF mando got vs Kovalev. Then again, Ward's getting more than Kovalev got for it as well.

Mohammedi trainer Abel Sanchez said Mohammedi, who earned a career-high purse of $270,000 to Kovalev's $750,000 (plus additional money from Russian television), was overwhelmed by the big moment of his biggest fight.
Sergey Kovalev, the massive favorite, knocked out overmatched mandatory challenger Nadjib Mohammedi with ease in the third round Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Mohammedi got less and he was fighting for the world championship. $300k is more than fair with no title on the line.

How classy of loudmouth Abel Sanchez to negotiate through the press, by the way.

Barrera is actually Kovalev's IBF mando now. But ...

Whatever Ward's getting, I'd take the 300k and fight him, if I'm Barrera.

If he can't beat Ward, he isn't going to beat Kovalev.
