I'm a Ward fan but lets be honest, Barrera is unknown outside of hardcore boxing circles so this fight isn't going to generate huge TV rating or break any live gate records...exactly how much do you think he should receive?

It's been alleged that $300k would be is Barrera's highest purse to date...that alone means the initial offer shouldn't be considered ridiculously low. I think 400-450k is the ceiling for Barrera, an opponent that brings no fan base.

If I was advising him, I dont even START the conversation for under 500k. Below that I would take my chances on the Kovalev mando......

The problem they have (Wards side) is that everyone knows that Ward's minimum is at least $2 million or more. So the money is already there. Its just a question of how much are they willing to give up in order to obtain a credible opponent, vs. some scrub they can bring up from 168.

That's understandable, supply vs demand. Hopefully Ward is willing invest in his preparation for Kovalev by raising the purse to 400-450k. If Barrera isn't happy with that then I wouldn't hold it against Ward for passing on the fight. I doubt he'd get that type of money anywhere else.

Ward got some people just TERRIFIED! I see a pattern here, even when he negotiates with a Solid Opponent look how some people find a negative in it

Ward is a threat that some people want just removed from boxing all together, it is like they know what is coming but would rather not see it

Kovalev purse was 1million for the B-hop fight but HE ended up with 300k, after tax, Promoter and Trainer etc.
