They are 2 of my 5 favorite fighters right now.

And that's exactly why I wanted to see them fight.

It could have been a legacy fight, now we will never see the fight

    Ward
    Golovkin
    Kovalev
    Crawford
    Canelo

My fave 5 in any order

I'm with ya. They both have some years left in em, 2016 could have big fights for both (GGG-Canelo, Ward-Kovalev).

That's the kind of idiocy that makes his hardcore fans come across like fools. I always watch Golovkin fight though. I like him in that regard.

But only one of them is half black, and that's what matters to some people.

And it matters to them so much that they can't get it into their heads that it doesn't matter to everybody.

Hence the ridiculous conspiracy theories about Golovkin being protected because of his "whiteness" and Ward being forced to fight Kovalev because "they" want the black man to get KTFO.

My own low opinion of Ward has nothing to do with Golovkin or Goosen. I started to resent him 3/4 years ago when it became clear that he had no intention of giving Carl Froch a rematch in the UK. I also couldn't believe the shit he was allowed to get away with against Kessler in Oakland. And and again, no rematch for Mikkel.

I admit though that being a GGG fan has hardened my already low opinion of Ward and his brainless psuedo fans.

you don't like someone because he didn't grant rematches to guys where a rematch clearly wasn't warranted? that seems incredibly petty.

Freedom uses the same logic and we all know that its a mask for his real reason (which you cited in your post).

I hope you are not doing the same.

Ward has lost his draw. He used to be an active fighter, striving for greatness and now he lives through Gennady haters on nsb. I actually think the whole Gennady thing got taken further than it should have because of fans and media. I think a greater reason to hold disliking towards Ward is for him saying he would do random drug testing (many years ago) and he still hasn't.

Gennady's team shouldn't have called out 168 pounders for the sake of making headlines when they don't have any intention on fighting them. Gennady didn't need that, he made himself a star with star making performances. At this point things are starting to play out how it was all intended to anyhow - GGG stays at 160 targeting bigger names than Ward, Canelo (perhaps still Cotto, even Jacobs) and Ward moves up [as he was being asked to years ago after cleaning out 168] and he finds a money fight waiting for him there.

The only thing left is for fans and media to finally get off this ward vs ggg thing and focus on more realistic fights.

I belive both are future Hall of Famers who will wish they wouldve fought each other when they retire....if they don't fight each other....
                  I like both fighters

Ward needs to fight more often, the skills are still their, needs to knock the rust off and get back in fighting form

GGG needs to step up his level of opposition....For someone ranked in the top5 p4p by a lot of people, he sure hasn't beat the competition to warrant that placement. His fan boys are a bit annoying. He is fun to watch though

Both are exceptional talents, cerebral fighters with the skills to back it up (or at least Ward was - I got no real evidence, but something is making me wonder if Ward hasn't lost a step). Fan of both guys but hard to be a Ward fan when he doesn't fight. And it's becoming harder to maintain excitement in watching GGG beat up overmatched guys - not his fault in particular - I simply don't see anyone below 168 presenting much of a challenge.

                      Rematches clearly were warranted.

Froch improved after losing to Ward and became the No1 SMW in the world. A rematch between he and Andre was without doubt the biggest and best fight to be made at 168 for quite some time.

Kesslar fought Ward in his Andre's home town and lost on cuts caused by head butts. If that wasn't enough reason for Ward to return the favour and fight Kesslar in Denmark, the career highest purse he was offered to do it should have been enough.

I can't see any post by Freedom in this thread, so I don't know what you mean there.
