Tonnes of fighters end up like Monroe. A lot of boxing fans are blind to it because they're too busy arguing about PPV numbers.

But he gave quite a good showing of himself in there. He wasn't overly defensive and he took the fight to Golovkin. The reason he probably doesn't get any calls is because he's stuck in the middle. Hes too good to be a tune up or a gatekeeper type, but hes not a champion and he has very little to offer. The reason he's in this predicament is that he took the Golovkin fight. Was a bad fight to take tbh. And then he performed above what was expected, which makes it even worse.
its about the sport that we love being so fcking expensive to follow and experience filled with utterly repugnant corrupt c*cksuckers that not only take the fans for a ride but the boxer as well.
joining a gym and getting training work along with boxing equipment getting trained is more expensive than xfinity with showtime and hbo.
being involved with boxing is like being involved with a beautiful woman that has drug and emotional problems. its gonna cost you.

That's why fighters don't take risks until they are happy with the financial reward. As a fan I hate that aspect of boxing because I want to see fights get made but it's the truth and it's why you don't see the Willie Monroe's of the world stepping up to face GGG level opponents right away.
Why would no one pick up Johnson-Monroe? that's a great undercard fight(likely Canelo-TBA) and a step up for both, the winner will also carry buzz having beaten a next level opponent. If not there's other fights, Stevens is good, I doubt anyone is afraid to fight Monroe. I think It's his promoter or it's him, with all the Haymon ass kissing I wouldn't be surprised if a pending lawsuit and inactivity is around the corner due to feeling like he's not getting what he deserves. Most fighters come up hard.Last edited by SplitSecond; 12-16-2015, 02:37 PM.

Take fights for less money, leave BP, don't give interviews and complain about how unfair life is but post pictures of your great new golden watch on twitter at the same time.

Willy Monroe Jr is just another crybaby. He was bragging before the fight how he was going to beat Golovkin.
He had his chance and LOST, now he should take it like a man instead being a crybaby and a poor loser.

The guy didnt say one thing about money or overpricing himself. He wants tough fights against good fighters. That's suddenly a crime and it's his fault because he shows off a nice time piece? OK.Boxing fans love to see broke fighters. I'll never understand it.
