Title, fan base, style. Monroe doesn't bring anything to the table.
He isn't a fighter a champion would give a shot for his voluntary cuz of his style, nor does he have a fan base where he can be maneuvered in to a lucrative fight. Tough spot to be in.Last edited by Box-Office; 12-17-2015, 04:22 AM.

Fighters are protected and fights aren't made for a reason. If you lose you become less marketable, your record isn't as pretty on the networks during intros and a promoter will take a loss putting you on events at empty casinos. Fighters need to be groomed, promoted and built up the right way and that is:
1. Early in your career, stay undefeated and take low risk fights
2. Gradually step up your opposition and take the most dangerous fights later in your career when you are an established product with a real fan base.
Every fighter does this but Monroe tried to play hero and go against the norm. Now he has respect but no fights, no money and no interest from promoters.
Fans talk all that **** about fighting for legacy and trying to earn their respect but when fighters do that and fail they end up like Willie Monroe.
I don't think its the loss, guys suffer early losses to bums even, he just isn't marketable, period.
fan base (especially ethnic)? titles? name? punchpower/style?

He said he's slated to be on Kov/Pascal undercard... but I doubt it.
If Stevens/Hyppolite is made, that's 2 televised fights right there... maybe get him on untelevised fight against a meh opponent to tune-up...but no idea where he goes from there.
He's supposed to be fighting a P.O.S manager right now in court

Boxing's a tough racket. Most fans seem to think good pro boxers make a lot of money. You hear about the cash the very top guys make, but those are a very select few. The sport sucks for the average athlete. Willie's a good kid with a head on his shoulders. I'm glad he mentioned becoming a firefighter. He can make decent money, retire with a pension in twenty years and keep all his marbles. I love boxing, but encouraging a guy who doesn't have real star potential to stay at it is plain wrong.
