I think there is more to this Monroe situation than that. I've heard HBO has options on Monroe. My assumption is thats why he's hemmed up right now more than anything. Judging by his promoter having a Showtime card last month that Monroe didn't appear on it seems likely thats the case.

But definitely agree with PBC in the game its cutting into what non-PBC fighters have options-wise, but there are still Showtime & FoxSports 1 shows that are open to all or most it seems.

And ultimately I'd bet it'll work out for Monroe cuz I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the recently brought to light situation with Lemeiux getting a HBO fight in his backyard next year for taking the GGG fight. If I was a betting man, & I am, I'd say Monroe is at least on the short list of opponents for that date if not the #1 guy on that short list. Or worse case maybe he gets a undercard fight with Rosado sometime in the first quarter of next year.

Networks needs to sell opponents to the public. How would they look putting one of their golden goose's against a guy with a record of 25-6-2? That just looks bad even if the 6 losses are against 6 elite fighters.

Even ShoBox is now promoting its fight cards as "6 fights, 6 undefeated fighters".
Fixed it for you. Boxing fans never had any problems with fighters who had lost before. Not until you nimwits came along did anybody care about having an "0".

Bull****, Undefeated has always been used to sell opponents. It was much harder for a fighter to get a title shot while undefeated in the past because they actually had to fight other ranked fighters to move up the rankings, where as today they can fight 25 nobodies to get there.

Provo struggles to land good fights too. Andrade is not in a good situation.

Truth is, Banner just aren't that well connected. It has got Monroe & Andrade with their tongues hanging out for that PBC money.

Incidentally, I think Monroe is better off for having fought Golovkin. At least people know who he is now, they didn't before and didn't care either.

Could be a situation where he is outpricing himself on non marquee opponents, because he's been in there with GGG but has no real steady fanbase. I can't see them not being able to get him fights, maybe he just don't like the cut, so he's making noise hoping to get some decent name to fight him?

Fight like a bum, get paid bum wages.

Monroe put up a worse fight than Stevens, but at least Curtis could market himself.
