Rosado also didn't have a promoter pre-GGG iirc, but now he has GBP who also helped him get on BKB. Maybe Monroe needs to do something about his promoter/manager.

If you aren't born with a fan base it is ****** not to sign with Haymon or Top Rank. We see this happen too often.

      • Pity, I really look forward to seeing this kid return he is clearly talented and could be a world champion.

        • 1. Early in your career, stay undefeated and take low risk fights
          2. Gradually step up your opposition and take the most dangerous fights later in your career when you are an established product............Wrong!

This is one of the biggest problem in a boxing today, the fact that being an undefeated fighter has more marketability than a fighter with "talent & comes to fight"!
Most "real boxing fans" are sceptical with undefeated records, who did they fight to get there? All trial horses, boxers without power, short notice stand by opponents?

Fury, Wilder have over 50 fights between them other than Fury beating an old Wlad who have they fought that has above average ability?

The reason that Monroe Jr. is having a problem getting fights is that he displayed boxing abilities that are lacking at 160lbs. He can move well laterally and puts punches together well. His loss to the world champ should not be a negative it should be a plus that he accepted the challenge.

Yes training camps cost money, everything costs and the promotion pays for it untill the final payment comes in and then its the fighters bill.......

Who the hell do you think pays for it.................tough lessons to learn.
Boxers are often safer inside the ring than outside! Boxers & fans have no clue about the business in boxing!

I'd like to see Willie with Abel Sanchez and match him a few times on GGG shows. I think he'd be a good show case fighter, work 10 rounders for 4 fights then take on the contenders. Groom him to take over when GGG is gone.
Now I don't know the young man so my thoughts on him maybe blowing in the wind but everything I've seen and read about him seems to be positive.

          • This happens all the time. LSC's crappy opponents before Mares got less than $100k while LSC got $750K.

Allakhverdiev got about $100K to fight Broner.

God only knows what the poor stiffs who fought Wilder (post-Stiverne) got, but I know it couldn't be very much.

Willie's crying out to Al to give him a fight with Jacobs and offering to fellate him & the PBC in return LOL

              • If I were Monroe Jr. I'd call for a rematch and publicize ''what other fighters were playing the inside game toe to toe with GGG and exposing him...'' as an example. HBO should be doing Monroe Jr. a favor for the fact it was more dynamic than Rubio or the Geale bout, assuming loyal HBO fans or the new can see the difference.

I think Monroe Jr. only caught confidence in the later rounds and started trading. For a Southpaw he should've used a straight left more often. At least Monroe Jr. went to a B plan with GGG, and Golovkin looked more exhausted than when he fought Murray.

And lastly, Malignaggi had less KO's than Monroe Jr. when he attempted the title against Cotto, so therefore Monroe Jr. deserves more bouts without a doubt, and with the help of HBO.

                • Very sad.

It's frustrating to see people say that fighters are "afraid" of GGG. Nobody is afraid of anybody. This is Professional Boxing, not bar fighting.

Fighters want the risk to balance out the reward. For guys like GGG, the risk of taking an L is obviously way more than the reward.

And for people to basically kick Monroe on the ground saying he's a crybaby.. Wow. Go step into a boxing ring yourselves for once.

Well said. I understand Monroe's position and he makes a lot of good points. He's simply not a draw and a risky play for a lot of 160lbers. Sad to hear, man.
