    • Monroe is one of the last genuinely good guys of the sport and I hope he gets more top fights. There is always life after GGG.....that's what boxing is about, being able to have a career and make money as the solid contender he is. I hope for the best for him. My heart goes out to him....we need more humble guys like him in the sport.

I think we can both agree DiBella is not the money man for these events, therefore he's not likely the one drafting the contracts. He takes his directions from the money man when it comes to the negotiations. Just like GYM gets it's final say from Al regarding Stevenson and how King got his final say from Al regarding Steiverne/Ortiz.

If I had time, I'd pull some DiBella/Haymon/Berto links. Years ago, Lou just did whatever he was told in regards to Berto. It actually blew up in his face when Berto went on twitter bragging about how Al set up an HBO meeting with Greenburg to discuss his future and Lou said he knew nothing about it.

And yes Mora signed the contract, I already mentioned that, what else was he going to do? Here's a fun fact - Sergio is actually signed to DiBella, not Jacobs. Why would DiBella force Mora (his contracted fighter) into a rematch clause if Sergio won, but not if Jacobs won???
On Monday, September 14th, Berto (who was visiting in New York) found his way to HBO’s offices, where he met with Luis Barragan (director of programming for HBO Sports) and Kery Davis. The conversation touched on Berto’s future. That, in and of itself, was of questionable propriety, since the meeting is said to have occurred without the knowledge of Al Haymon (Berto’s manager) or DiBella (Berto’s promoter). After the meeting, Davis spoke with Haymon and told him that it had taken place. But that was only part of the story. Berto had a second meeting at HBO on Tuesday; this one with Ross Greenburg.

Hauser used to write some great articles about HBO before HBO bought him out.

        • He ain't do **** vs Golovkin but I feel bad for him. Al would have had him headlining a PBC card after fighting GGG.

          • It is sad that some of you guys are laughing at this kid for taking the fight, but then you complain when other young fighters refuse to take risky fight before being well paid.

Fighters are protected and fights aren't made for a reason. If you lose you become less marketable, your record isn't as pretty on the networks during intros and a promoter will take a loss putting you on events at empty casinos. Fighters need to be groomed, promoted and built up the right way and that is:

              1. Early in your career, stay undefeated and take low risk fights
              2. Gradually step up your opposition and take the most dangerous fights later in your career when you are an established product with a real fan base.

Every fighter does this but Monroe tried to play hero and go against the norm. Now he has respect but no fights, no money and no interest from promoters.

Fans talk all that **** about fighting for legacy and trying to earn their respect but when fighters do that and fail they end up like Willie Monroe.
              Bullshyt....

He did his part and fought a good fight and now no one wants to risk taking the L. This guy could easily be a belt holder with his talent. His promoter all but promised him this would help his career....he took a chance and they failed him - its not his fault....you didn't feel like this BEFORE he fought GGG, so why now? It's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. I hope he can get with Haymon because he deserves another chance to get to the top.

              • Well, why not just sign with Haymon now? He could be fighting the likes of Lee, Quillin, Jacobs, and Lara.

                • Often a fighter gets a big fight and after that waits for another big fight. This might be the case here. Monroe should back up and take a few small fights and rebuild. That will lead to a fight he wants.
