All about the money. And every time he sends in Garcia vs Salko or Garcia vs Guerrero, It's a safer pay day that's Garcia vs Shawn Porter or Amir Khan vs Keith Thurman... Haymon is a fraud. Free Boxing means each Network pays HIM for those safe fights. The wording in his contracts with fighters is "they just fight who he puts in the ring; they have no input not negotiating power to choose a fight". So he's the classic pimp, and all his fighters are hookers. He tells them which corner to stand on for a safe trick. Bad for Boxing.
Agreed. Haymon knows how to raise substantial amounts of money, but he does not know how to out that money to good use. Haymon and all his followers brag about how many fighters he has, how much he pays them, how many networks PBC is on. But his product is so bad he actually has to pay the networks to put his PBC on the air. That says it all.

I watched PBC this weekend on NBC and it has not improved at all from the very first show. Marv Albert still calls fighters by the wrong names, he still does not know anything about boxing (even though at one time more than 25yrs ago he did know boxing). Sugar Ray Leonard still sucks and uses the same phrases he used in the 1980s like the phrase "intestinal fortitude". The broadcast was so bad it made me vomit. He puts his fighters in with a bunch of cab drivers and nobodies and he expects the public to eat it up.

One more thing his shows on Spike still have Antonio Tarver as the expert boxing commentator. The guy gets busted for steroids, just over a month ago, this being the 2nd time in 2yrs, and Haymon keeps him as a commentator. He does not fire him, Showtime fired him but Haymon keeps him on Spike. That right there shows you how serious Haymon is about keeping steroids out of boxing. A known steroid cheat, busted just in October for using steroids in his August fight on Spike. Tarver basically was on steroids for a fight in August broadcast by Spike and Haymon and Spike are alright with this. What a fraud Haymon is.

He is overpaying them to squash the competition, unfairly I might add. This is not capitalism it is the opposite. Its unfair competition and once he or if he is able to break the competition and make his game the only game in town then fighters will start to see their purse amounts drastically fall.

Another reason he is overpaying fighters is it has the effect of causing disharmony in other promotional outfits. Because you then have fighters who are not with Haymon asking as to why they are not getting paid like Haymon fighters? This leds to fighters trying to break their contracts with other promoters. Mikey Garcia comes to mind.
If your comment was designed to criminalize Al Haymon, you have failed. Actually, your comment does more to support Al Haymon's position than it does to hurt it. What is wrong with squashing the competition? What is wrong with causing disharmony in other promotional outfits? That is standard operating procedure in the the American (capitalistic) economy?

Do you think AT&T is trying to help Verizon succeed? Do you think GM is in business to help Ford increase their profits? Do you think Target offers sales to help create more harmony at Wal Mart?

Haymon is doing the same thing that every other promoter is doing. The difference is Haymon's method is allowing fighters to make a hell of a lot more money.

If Verizon, At&T,or GM artificially deflate prices on their products then yes it is criminal. There is a lot wrong with Haymon trying to destabilize other promotional outfits and boxing in general. Artificially inflating or deflating prices is illegal in any marketplace and in this case Haymon is doing this with fighters purses. The marketplace should decide what a fighter earns.

Lol notice how all the Haymon haters got these long ass comments like they got something to be concerned about? Guarantee most if not all of them also hate Floyd Mayweather and his success and are in love and clinging on to anything that has to do with Golden Boy, Top Rank, GGG, Kovalev, Canelo, Pacquiao or anything that DOESN'T have something to do with PBC, Haymon or Mayweather.. I could go on and on about fighters who are with Haymon who get hated consistently.. Garcia and Stevenson just to name two off the head.

I think that woulda been great for Jordan, but ****ty for the overall position of basketball & other basketball players much like how Floyd & Manny getting all the money they've been getting for so long is great for them, but overall not good for boxing & other boxers.
I get what you mean you will see more guys get paid what they are worth. But my question is will they fully be able to maximize money wise?

For example Cotto vs Canelo both will probably will end up making over 8 figures. Can guys under Al Haymon's contract ever make that kind of money?

I know people like to criticize Golden Boy, Top Rank, etc.....but Bob Arum and Oscar have made there best guys top dollar.....Will Al Haymon be able to do that with his stable of guys?

And I know Floyd Mayweather will be brought up but he is a whole other star and I'm sure his contract was probably night and day compared to the 200 plus guys under Al Haymon.

You're an idiot. DeGale got his biggest payday, but he's hardly a big name, headliner comparable to those fighting for TRB or GBP. Garcia made $700k for fighting lightweight Rod Salka. A smidge over that for fighting Lamont Peterson. He never promotes his elite against one another. And if he did, his "elite" don't command the money Cotto, Canelo, GGG, Kovalev, Ward, Bradley or Klitschko get each time out. Haymon is a thug.

The Bute fight was pretty decent but it came on so damn late...ridiculous man, like 12:30 am, wtf? Even so, it was one of the better PBC cards that I've seen.

Production value sucks on basically all of the cards and the NBC commentating team is not very good. The ESPN and Spike cards are typically the better ones imo because the fights are more evenly matched, or at least I get that feeling from watching them. They are more like traditional boxing productions in the fact that the you can hear the corners and the commentators are more lively.

If he is paying his fighters, then that's good. As long as there are good cards mixed in, I don't really care about his personal life or whatever. He is a shady dude, I have no question about that, but then again I think most boxing promoters are that way....all liars out to make that dollar without risking too much damage to their cash cows. When the mismatches come on, I'm still going to gripe about it as I should do as a fan.

I honestly think that DeGale is one of the best boxers that Hymen has in his entire stable. He could be his first "big star" in the UK if he keeps on winning which could lead to massive paydays for overseas bouts.
