For the official weigh in? No. But I wouldn't mind a second weigh in so guys don't get too big or be forced to move up

What's the use of having weight limits, only to have 20-30 pound weight disparities on the night of the fight. It's a sham. Only in boxing can you have a guy make 160 pounds and show up for the fight weighing 185 pounds. What the hell is that all about? Technicalities aside, if you can't make a ****ing weight class, move on to the next one.

            Simple as.

People make it more complicated than it needs to be. If you need to come crashing down from a walking around weight of 180 to squeeze into 154, only to gain 20 pounds overnight and double your opponent's size..... # 1 it's unfair, and # 2 you shouldn't be fighting at 154 in the first place. Gradual weight losses in a systematic way..... that should be the norm. Boxing should have an even playing field.

Floyd made a living off of fighting fighters who rehydrated exactly as you stated since he was at 130

Floyd never wanted to be weighed on the night of the fight.

Why won't these threads end. This topic has been beaten to death.

People seem to have a problem with day before weigh ins because some fighters put on massive amounts of weight on fight night, but what they fail to realize is that putting on that much weight is more a hinderance than a help. Draining yourself for days only to put on 20+ lbs on fight night hurts you.

Just look at Rios vs Bradley. Not only was Rios slower, he had no more punch resistance causing feather fisted Bradley to be the first man to KO him. This guy took massive punishment from Pacquiao, but couldn't take punches from Bradley?

Look at Geale vs Cotto. Geale put on 25 lbs plus in that fight and was annihilated by Cotto.

The greats know that putting on weight in order to have an advantage isn't a good strategy. That's why the best fighters (Mayweather, Marquez, Hopkins, Pacquiao) always fought and stayed within their weigh in.

I'm on some futuristic **** with weight. I think you are NEVER going to stop cats doing horrible things to their body via losing quick weight. And sure the fighter pays the price with that when it goes bad, but the sport always gets bad PR from that situation.

The only way one can really stop the sport within a sport of best weight loser is if guys are assigned a weight region to fight at based on some debatable system of finding an acceptable weight for a fighter upon being given a boxing license. I think some sort of "BMI of boxing weight limits" should be figured out for a healthy weight for a fighter & he can only fight within that weight limit. This cuts all the bs with losing weight & guys will be fighting with less stress on their bodies unlike today. I think wrestling at the high school & college level is already doing something similar to this. And granted there would be a ton of obstacles with something like this becoming a practice, but I think its in the best interest of the sport & the boxers that something like this becomes the way things work.
