I'm sure it would be fine for ggg to move up to 168 and fight some unranked mw for his first of many tune ups too.Comment

It's usually a sign of defeat when you have to resort to using an alt......That's right, Sanchez is delusional as hell.
GGG will likely lose to Ward, he's too small.
But we know who truly is confident taking 2-3 tuneups before Kovalev is OK but GGG must go to Ward right awayComment

Its just funny, that you have a guy trying to unify the middleweight division, being named by a guy who is clearly intent on moving up to 175.
The only reason, Ward needs to rebuild a name, and the only way is with GGG's name in his mouth.Comment

Why does Ward need to mention GGG when he's on a collision course with Kovalev? Surely you'd admit that Kovalev is just as dangerous and almost as popular as GGG.
So exactly what would Ward have to gain by mentioning GGG?Comment

[QUOTE=firstborn;16193831]Kovalev while the king of 175 is not the kind of name stateside that GGG is. Kovalev is not selling out arena's everywhere and being talked about constantly. Its just funny, that you have a guy trying to unify the middleweight division, being named by a guy who is clearly intent on moving up to 175.

GGG is the much more popular fighter with much larger mainstream exposure than Kovalev.
He is talked about with fighters like Canelo and Cotto, compare that to being talked about with Ward and Stevenson.
Its not the same league of exposure.
Ward clearly has no intention of staying at 168, he never did. He is calling out GGG while taking tuneups to test the waters at 175.
Its smart, it gets wards name out there again, and will make him more marketable when he fights Kovalev.
Im not calling Ward a coward or anything. Its just the reality of what is going on.Comment

You have a point, GGG is also slightly more popular due to his recent media ops with Rhonda Rousey and his Apple commercial. That being said, I still don't know too many casual fans that are familiar with either Kovalev or GGG. Hell to be honest the only reason why casuals around here know Ward is because he's from the Bay Area.Kovalev while the king of 175 is not the kind of name stateside that GGG is. What I'm trying to express is that GGG doesn't bring in that much more attention than Kovalev....at least not where I'm from. Besides, at this point I think Ward and GGG only mention each other because reporters ask the same questions a million times.Comment
