Sergey Kovalev is fighting Jean Pascal in January at 175lbs.
Andre Ward is fighting another tune up vs a SMW above the SMW limit this month. Ward and Kovalev haven't signed anything to fight each other.
After Kovalev fights Pascal in January he will fight another LHW and Ward will fight another tune up vs a SMW above the SMW limit sometime 1st half next year(if he stays healthy and doesn't sue anyone)
    "MUH FIRST STEPS DOE!"

    Dumb ****ing Nas wannabe lol
you think the WBC will enforce their rule now? Aren't they known as WeBeCrooks? But you read an article though...
Then you disregard articles from kovalev's camp, wards camp and HBO about the fight being in the works. Lol at the tune up bit too. Who gives a fuck how Ward gets there as long as the fight gets made, right? You hopefull skeptics are a funny lot

Kovalev carries his power late. He'll be dangerous from the opening bell and even if he's frustrated in rounds 9, 10, etc., he seems mentally tough enough to ramp up the attack rather than fold up the tent. It'll be an exciting finish either way.
With all respects, I think Kovalev comes on strong later because he's faced shyt competition that hasn't been able to bring it to him. When a shot Pasqual and 50 y/o Hopkins are your best wins, you haven't been challenged. This is another reason Kovalev will be frustrated later in the fight, he will have not been in waters that deep and turbulent.

Hilarious. Where's the signed contract they ask.

Well it's common knowledge that Ward has signed a 3 fight deal with HBO which culminates in a Kovalev fight. Both camps have spoken positively about the fight and both fighters want the fight.

Where's the signed contract for GGG vs Cotto/Canelo?

        GGG: "I won't go below 160 for Cotto/Canelo"

Canelo: "I won't go above 155 for GGG"

Cotto: "I am not a middleweight. I don't need GGG"

        Fights done doe!

Yeah those wins are definitely a little overrated. He did surprise me with the way he fought against Hopkins. But he hasn't had that fight where he has to dig deep, not from what I've seen. Ward can dig, no question. His intelligence is off the charts. I still would like to see more of him before making a pick (the Smith performance didn't blow me away) but if he's still got it, he'll beat Sergey.

I certainly don't foresee you offering any praise or compliments after that. Even though that one win would be better than anything Golovkin has accomplished in his entire career.
uhh i wasn't talking about golovkin, i was talking about kovalev, read the thread title dumbass

I asked him where the contracts were earlier and he came back with the WBC mandatory rant. Instead of jumping on the Kova wagon and saying "Kova is gonna knock him out" etc, etc. he just shits on the whole fight and negotiations. Could it be that he feels dumb now that Ward is moving up and ggg wouldn't? Andre "irrelevant" Ward has already 1 up'd ggg and could soon be P4P #1. ggg stay unifying though...

It's times like this your greatly appreciated dirk. At least you can make for a good argument where I'll be like "damn, that fucker got me"

My words are worth more to me than internet points so if you want to hold something against me, you can quote this; barring injury, Andre Ward beats Sergey Kovalev via decision. I'll even tell you how it happens. Ward disrupts Kovalev's ability to keep the opponent at range. Tags Kovalev while in and on the way out of active clinches. Creates angles that rob Kovalev of his ability to lay on power (ties into first one). Kovalev's output drops in later rounds due to being frustrated and unable to figure out Andre's rhythm.
Sounds like a fun prediction. Hopefully the fight materializes and we'll see if ward can really deal with someone like kovalev.

no one is hating on the kovalev fight. they are hating on his 3 lame tune ups and they are pointing out how hypocritical ward fans are when they called ggg a duck for trying to fight froch who was number 2 in the division in his very first fight at 168. but ward needs baby steps just to get to kovalev who is number 2 in his division.

It's so terrible that Ward is going to fight once more after November before he meets Kovalev. I'm raving mad. Tired act as always.

Can't compare the two situations because you can't compare the two fighters. One is proven at the highest level, the other is not. One gets the benefit of the doubt, the other doesn't.

Yea, for me that's the fun part. Making a prediction, especially when it puts me in the minority, like this one. I'm not really vested in any fighter winning and I don't feel like a "fan" of anyone in particular. Just the analysis angle is fun.
