What Jake Donovan doesn't understand is that the WBC does whatever the hell it wants. It has ignored its own rules at least a thousand times and more than a few times, changed a mandatory opponent to a voluntary opponent or delayed a mandatory fight for years. Chavez Jr. managed to delay his WBC mandatory fight with Martinez for two years while he fought one stiff after another. Canelo Alvarez never fought a mandatory opponent in the three years he held the WBC belt at 154.
When Cotto or Alvarez tell the WBC after their November 21 fight that they want to fight someone else instead of Golovkin, the WBC will figure out a way to make it happen.Last edited by big_james10; 10-28-2015, 05:40 PM.Comment

the thing many people seem to miss is this, if they do a CW at 155, and Canelo upsets GGG, then Canelo now has 3 MW belts without ever fighting at 160.
I don't know how any boxing fan can say that is ok.
Canelo has been fighting at MW for awhile now. He can't claim he isn't a MW while weighing 168, 30 days out for a fight against Cotto.
Canelo is complaining about size, but he was fine fighting Cotto and Floyd, smaller fighters.
Now that Canelo will be mandated to fight someone who is supposed to beat him, he's gone all diva. (He says fans criticize because he is great, lol!).
It's time to man up, live up to the hype of being the next great boxer.
Kudos to Team GGG for standing up for the integrity of boxing
This is why Canelo doesn't want GGG.

This just sounds to me like Floyd a few years back when it was it his best interest to stand up for cleaning up the sport or CWs, see how that turned out.
I have no issue with Canelo wanting 155 and GGG wanting 160.
But this is not a battle for integrity, it is a battle for both guys wanting the maximum possible advantage. Canelo has never fought a 160 guy. GGG is salivating.
When it's GGG's turn, let's see if he stands up for the "integrity" of the sport. What's that? 164 for Ward?
This is what bothers me with GGG fans. It is not that I want Canelo to force him to 155, it is that you guys are really acting like GGG is somehow different from all others.
He is not at 168 or 154 because those aren't weights where he maximizes his talent. That's the only reason he wants 160, so he can be in a better sport vs. Cotto or Canelo. It's not integrity, let's not get silly here.Comment

Not everything can be sold for money, however foreign this concept may sound to you. GGG should not sell his soul for the money and participate in this mockery of MW title. If they are not ready to fight for the MW title at MW limit of 160, f**k them with their money. They can call themselves "A-side" until they are blue in the face, everybody will see them for the cowards they are. Regarding Ward and 164 - this was a projected non-title fight with a fighter from the next division. Totally different scenario, but of course you know it. Just prefer to lie and misdirect.Comment

I don't doubt they give up the title, but it doesn't help Golovkin. He doesn't need a belt handed to him as much as he needs a big win againt a big name, big money fighter. GGG might have a strong following in the boxing world but as his ppv numbers show, he's not yet a household name, a win over Canelo or Cotto would make him one.
How is this not obvious to EVERYONE ?
Oh right, it isComment

Didn't know that, but it does explain something.....
I cannot figure out why a supposed killer wants nothing to do with a couple of little guys who just so happen to be the 2/3 best draws in the sport?
Anyone from 154-160 should be breaking their neck to get in with Cotto/Canelo..... but Golovkin seems to be doing the exact opposite.
It looks like Golovkin will continue fighting cabbies until he breaks Hopkins record..... and in the meantime it appears that they want nothing to do with a threat, and will take no risks whatsoever.
Golovkin said that he could beat Canelo at catchweight..... and if he has doubts about that now, he could at least give Canelo 2 tuneups to acclimate to 160 to make Golovkins first MEGA fight.
Ward is daring to be great with Kovalev, GGG wont even fight the little guys.
Fkn lame.Comment

GGG is the premier chicken chaser and is willing while searching anyone that has to do with MW titles to fight anyone !!!
Ward is not coming to GGG he is going away and fighting another NOBODY as a LHW!!!!!!
GGG will pluck all the feathers off of Jr and send him body shots that will make him do an ugly face and make him squeal like a pig
GGG is the real deal Jr is the fraud
Golovkin said he could do it.Comment
