Golovkin is doing the exact same thing Ward did. Ward cleaned out his division, became lineal champ, unified titles. Golovkin has unified titles and is attempting to unify the last belt and lineal title. What is the difference here? Ward never moved up (besides a 172 pound fight against Paul Smith). Difference? None.

Lol good thing you're not a manager.

Dawson: I wanted the Ward fight at 170 lb catchweight but they said no
“I’ll make the weight, no problem,” Dawson said. “I’m still eating. I told everyone I could make 168. I wasn’t saying it to sell a fight, I was saying it because I can do it. We have talked about moving to 168 for the last few years. When I finally had the opportunity to do it, I did it.”.....

"168 is no problem. I don't think people remember maybe a year ago or 2 years ago, when somebody fell out of the Super Six tournament, I had the option to join the tournament, but I turned it down because I didn't want to give up my title at light heavyweight. 168 has always been in the back of my mind..... everything is coming back to me; everything. The hand speed, the different variety of combinations, you know, the foot work; everything is coming back. It's like I'm a child again, you know, playing around in the gym and just doing the things that I knew I was capable of doing. The weight loss is doing wonders for me, you know, going down to my natural weight, 168 pounds.".....

Team Dawson specifically stated at the time, they wanted Wards title.

What is the rush about in seeing GGG-Ward ?
Ward-Kovalev is also bigger than Ward-GGG. Ward beats Kovalev and he's the king of boxing, no debates about it. Kovalev is the most dangerous guy in the sport.

Establish a legacy at your own weight before being undersized at 168
People are always saying someone has outgrown a weight or need to move up just because they are the best in their division. I like to see fighters unseat the champion and I like to see unification matches. I'm getting tired of the going up in weight and catchweights now. It was cool until the built-in excuses of being drained or I didn't bring any power to this weight, etc. came to the fold. Let GGG stay where he's at. He's already 33, so he may not be able to go up.

Ward doesn't even want GGG until late next year. He wants tune-ups.
GGG is waiting around for dude.
Not to mention it will be Canelo.

What is important is how important Canelo and Cotto are to their companies, neither are getting sacrificed to Golovkin (which incidentally is why Golovkin won't fight Ward soon) just because it is a big fights. In time sure it would eventually come off but Golovkin would be getting jerked around for a long time first.
