It is not crazy to make deals/arrangements that far out, Arum has been doing it for years..... the same with Kovalev..... Duva stated that his schedule is "booked" for the near future.

      It makes sense.

Its just a statement of intent so that both fighters can commit and get their schedules coordinated..... its not contractually binding and will always have an out.

They could at least pretend to be interested after talking so much shht.
So now it's about pretending and being deceitful? lol

It's far better to be honest about what they want - they've made it clear they want the WBC belt and want to see what happens with that fight. Usually when a guy in a division wants to unify every belt he is celebrated but for some reason it's wrong for GGG to want to unify his division? Makes no sense.

Ward unified his division and did the exact same thing. Could you imagine if Ward was set to fight Carl Froch, the biggest fight of his career and biggest test to date, and boxing fans started to demand he forgets about Froch and moved up to 175? Because that's essentially what you're asking Gennady to do, it's crazy and literally makes no sense at all.

Waiting that long is a long time for Gennady. What is the problem with waiting for the Canelo/Cotto winner to decide? Golovkin has been chasing this belt for YEARS so why abandoned it when he is so close? Makes no sense especially when you factor in if it's Canelo who wins, it's literally the biggest fight that can be made in the sport (not including retired Floyd, of course).

I want to see the Ward fight myself too, it's just that people on here don't seem to realize Ward has a plan to fight a couple more fights first no matter what he does (stays at 168 or 175) so its going to have to wait no matter what. Let's see what happens with the WBC belt and go from there. Ward is going to fight a couple of tuneup's anyways so it literally doesn't matter if GGG waits to see what happens with Canelo/Cotto or not.
Waiting is waiting, either way that is what he is going to be doing. I would personally think if they pushed the issue on the Ward fight that is much more likely to happen in a timely fashion. That is a trickier fight though, so I can understand waiting to see if another big fight is possible. Pretty much every fighter catches heat for that though.

Golovkin has waited a lot in his career already, so striking while the iron is hot is key so I personally want to see him actually make something happen rather than hope the winner of Cotto-Canelo follows through. He does have some time now though before any decision like that needs to be made.

Cotto/Canelo Winner seems to be saying they'll make the fight

and why not. It's mandated. It's big money. And vacating the belt is bad for their legacy.

I'd rather lose than be a chicken ****.

            WBC isn't playing games!

De La Hoya Sounds to me like He is Ready for Canelo/GGG

its a big fight. The fight of 2016 will be GGG versus Camelo, probably in Texas.

Striking when the iron is hot? That would still be Canelo/Cotto winner since he couldn't fight Ward right now even of he decided to say screw the WBC belt.

I guess we have a different of opinion when it comes to "waiting". Golovkin has been fighting for his chance at the lineal crown for a long time. It's important to him. It seems almost absurd to me to finally get THIS CLOSE just to pass on it and move up in weight for a lesser fight.

If you fought so hard for something in your life, would you give up on it when it's so close? I don't understand that kind of logic. He's mandatory, all he has to do is chill until next month to find out if he's going to finally get his opportunity or not. Its not like the Ward fight can happen before then.

There also comes a time to cut bait and move on with things. That is not exactly this moment in time though because he just fought yesterday, it is just when the winner of Cotto-Canelo starts to jerk him around what choice does he make. He has consistently waited for that shot though he will probably keep at 160.

Cotto or Canelo is going to get in the ring with him, so that belt will be up for grabs. Maybe he will rematch Murphy or Geale for that belt.

                      Golovkin's pre-fight weight was 168?

In that case Ward would probably have a significant adsvantage if a fight with Golovkin was made at 168 as GGG is obviously a natural middleweight.
