They might fight him eventually because it will be a big fight, but he will be like the last option. Either guy who wins that fight will want and get an easy money fight next and I can't see a quick turnaround for either guy.
Cotto being a known hard guy to deal with it will take time even if he gets what he wants, and if he doesn't he walks.
Canelo has been a guy that has made things happen, but that sort of attitude only lasts for so long and if he beats Cotto I can't see him being easy to deal with either.Comment

We talked about that like four pages ago, going in circles:
He's been saying he wants unification for the longest time, man. They flirted with the idea of a fight at 168 for big money when they couldn't get a decent opponent at 160. Now they just had a unification yesterday and have immediate mandatory for the WBC/lineal next. Of course they aren't going to leave 160 now being that they are potentially one fight away from a super fight.
Who would he fight at 168 right now anyway? Ward isn't interested in fighting him until mid 2016.Comment

You act like mid 2016 is far off in boxing time, that is right around the corner. We talked about that like four pages ago, going in circles:

Team Golovkin could at least pretend to be interested.Comment

Since when is 8 months the same as a few?
Why sit out that long when Canelo/Cotto is right around the corner? ******. Just wait and see if they get their shot at the lineal crown.
Also, when Golovkin was finalizing a deal with Lemieux, team Ward wanted to sign some kind of deal to fight mid to late 2016. This was a while ago, they finalized that fight months ago. It's kind of ******ed to make any agreement that far away.Last edited by ИATAS; 10-18-2015, 02:12 PM.Comment

Where did the word few come from? 7-9 months ain't **** in boxing time, and Cotto Canelo is not going to happen that quickly either no matter what rosy language you hear.Since when is 8 months the same as a few?

It personally is not a big deal to me if he fights Ward or not as Ward has messed up his own career making it real easy to not look that direction. That is by far the toughest fight out there for him, but that doesn't make it the smart choice even if it is a pretty big fight. I just don't think the timing is the issue, there is easier money to grab first just that Golovkin is going to get done the same way.Comment

Team Golovkin could obviously make that fight if they really wanted to.Since when is 8 months the same as a few?

We will know by January if the Cotto/Canelo winner will fight Golovkin or not.
It is not crazy to make deals/arrangements that far out, Arum has been doing it for years..... the same with Kovalev..... Duva stated that his schedule is "booked" for the near future.
It makes sense.
Its just a statement of intent so that both fighters can commit and get their schedules coordinated..... its not contractually binding and will always have an out.
They could at least pretend to be interested after talking so much shht.Comment

The guy who posted right after you, quoted the wrong person. Point still stands though.
Waiting that long is a long time for Gennady. What is the problem with waiting for the Canelo/Cotto winner to decide? Golovkin has been chasing this belt for YEARS so why abandoned it when he is so close? Makes no sense especially when you factor in if it's Canelo who wins, it's literally the biggest fight that can be made in the sport (not including retired Floyd, of course).7-9 months ain't **** in boxing time, and Cotto Canelo is not going to happen that quickly either no matter what rosy language you hear.
I want to see the Ward fight myself too, it's just that people on here don't seem to realize Ward has a plan to fight a couple more fights first no matter what he does (stays at 168 or 175) so its going to have to wait no matter what. Let's see what happens with the WBC belt and go from there. Ward is going to fight a couple of tuneup's anyways so it literally doesn't matter if GGG waits to see what happens with Canelo/Cotto or not.It personally is not a big deal to me if he fights Ward or not as Ward has messed up his own career making it real easy to not look that direction.
