I would have loved that as well. Viloria had just hurt him to the body not too long before the stoppage, they should have allowed the fight to reach a more conclusive ending.

With that said I love watching Chocolatito. He has a style reminiscent of Joe Louis or his mentor Alexis Arguello...he can destroy you from long range or he can destroy you on the inside.

Viloria has a terrific chin to have taken that much punishment round after round.

This was an awesome fight, if only the crowd was as enthusiastic for it as they were for the main event.

His combinations reminded me of Marquez, very fluid.

I was very impressed with Roman.

Defense could be better but overall he looked great.

Arguello mentored him? I wasn't aware of that.

Anyway I am becoming a big fan of Roman, now, but he's still not even top 10 p4p on my list, and beating a game Viloria sure doesn't "stamp" anything for me other than another win.
He definitely belongs in top ten for me but how some idiots have him at #1 is beyond me, Viloria had no snap in his punch and no real serious power to cause Roman any problem.

The road to P4P 1 status for Roman should be by moving up weight and cleaning out that division, there are a lot of big hitters up there.

Yeah, they mentioned it in the telecast last night.

They also told a cool anecdote about how he walked into Arguello's gym with the belt around his waist and Alexis yelled at him to go back outside, take it off, and walk back in humbly greeting everyone just like he used to do before he won it.

It was sad to see my boy Viloria get smashed, but Chocolatito is the truth. Viloria was very game and dangerous even at his age, he even looked really good the first two rounds but Gonzalez showed why he is so highly regarded.

The ref stopped the fight because Viloria had too much heart and a chin too strong for his own good. Gonzalez really took it to him, Viloria's legs were gone and so was the snap to his punches. He was outgunned, didn't protest the stoppage, and when Max asked him if Gonzalez was the best fighter he ever faced, Viloria simply said, "yes."

Top 10 P4P wise, it's very thin at the top, but heavy towards the bottom. A lot of impressive fighters now, but no clear standout. I have no problem when people rank Chocolatito #1, but I would still put him behind Wlad. Ward screwed himself by staying inactive. He should be #1 if he took the Wlad route and took on all comers, even opponents who are relatively unknown.

I called it, Viloria's chances were early to mid fight... Anything after the 6th or 7th would be a dismantling and showcase for Roman. However, what did come as a surprise was the fact that Viloria hurt Gonzalez with a vicious body shot right before the TKO sequence. It was a good fight, and it seems like Roman is having trouble making 112, so who knows if the Estrada rematch will happen any time soon since Gonzalez may move up and I doubt Estrada would vacate his titles for a rematch at a higher weight division.

Regardless, there are plenty of good fights for Roman at either 112 or 115. Also, Viloria put on a great show and I think the stoppage may have been slightly premature, but it was bound to happen. I'm just glad Viloria is fine, one of my favorite fighters for some time and I'm grateful for the fact that he was able to give us atleast one last strong effort before hitting the retirement button.
