However, what did come as a surprise was the fact that Viloria hurt Gonzalez with a vicious body shot right before the TKO sequence. It was a good fight, and it seems like Roman is having trouble making 112, so who knows if the Estrada rematch will happen any time soon since Gonzalez may move up and I doubt Estrada would vacate his titles for a rematch at a higher weight division.
Regardless, there are plenty of good fights for Roman at either 112 or 115. Also, Viloria put on a great show and I think the stoppage may have been slightly premature, but it was bound to happen. I'm just glad Viloria is fine, one of my favorite fighters for some time and I'm grateful for the fact that he was able to give us atleast one last strong effort before hitting the retirement button.
And the stoppage last night was fine. Viloria was spent at the end and he didn't protest one bit. He had some nice early rounds but he couldn't break Roman's guard enough. Roman's glove work on defense last night was excellent.

This was the best shape I've ever seen Viloria in and he looked supremely confident leading up to the fight, but it was apparent that Gonzalez is just on a whole nother level. Much respect to Viloria for coming to fight and leaving it all on the canvas. You couldn't have asked for anything more out of him.
On the other hand, Gonzalez is a real treat to watch. His punches don't come that fast, but he throws with heat seeking precision and deceptive power. The short punch that he scored a knockdown with is a perfect example. I was also surprised at how well his chin held up against Viloria's punches. Aside from the body shot, he was never really in any trouble, and that's saying a lot considering the level of opponent he was up against.
The big challenges that exist for Gonzalez, like most great fighters, are at a weight class above him. A few intriguing match-ups would be Amnat Ruenrong, Carlos Cuadras, Donnie Nietes and Naoya Inoue. I'm officially a fan of Chocolatito and will be looking forward to his next fight.
