I agree with this. Bad stoppage. At the same time, Viloria didn't protest. Maybe he was too gassed to complain. Conditioning may be a factor. This is what happens when you get up there in age in boxing I guess.

Gonzalez is a damn near perfect offensive fighter. There isn't a thing he does wrong. He's also taking the title of best uppercuts in the sport now that Marquez is on the way out.

I see how Choco gets hated on here and considered overrated and a hype job due to commentators and dyck rider fans but honestly its all unwarranted. Roman never says he's the best, always speaks well about his opponents and others, is god fearing (if you're into that) and is overall a good guy. The hate for him is without a doubt unwarranted. The large majority of Gonzalez haters are people who don't watch the lower weights and assume that he has never beaten anyone since they have no clue about those weights. It's pure ignorance driving them to hate rather than learn.

I think it was a little premature stoppage. New York Commission has always instructed physicians and referees to stop fights at any slight sign of disparity (both doctors and referees seem often eager to stop combats). While there is no doubt Gonzales is very solid and complete fighter (it is the concept of being # 1 P4P what is debatable), i think Viloria has few moments of success. It is easy to infer that if an old Brian was able to hold almost for 10 rounds (and possibly could have gone longer outside New York), then a younger version of the 'Hawian Punch' could have had a better chance against Gonzales. I would not be surprised if Brian decides to retire in the very near future.

you clearly had no idea who Roman was before late 2014 , still have no idea who the likes of Ioka , Estrada ,ruenreong etc.. are and haven't watched a single fight of these guys .
yet you'll go out on a limb and claim that a division that you never followed , a division not even shown on TV where you live, is " weak " and that any top fighter from it has a padded record built on fighting cab drivers .
