Forbes, for whatever reason, treat Mayweather and Pacquiao as if their situations were the same but they're not; Pacquiao has a significant amount of his reported earnings paid to Bob Arum (30% to 33%) before seeing a penny. Mayweather sees every penny that he's earned.

Ignoring taxes/camp share/expenses/etc, every revenue stream passes through Top Rank first, with Arum taking his share before sending a penny to Pacquiao [Note how 1)your story was from June 2015 while the $40m offer was made in 2012 and 2)how Forbes methodology counted 3 Pacquiao fights].

Forbes may think that Pacquiao picked up $160m, but that's likely not accurate. Pacquiao basically got $30m for the Mayweather fight (the rest of the money will come in over the 18 months since the fight, with Top Rank likely pocketing the money, as they write-off Pacquiao's past due debts).

Next time, why not bring the Forbes list from 2013, lol.

There were no negotiations. They refused after 36 minutes. He probably should get 60/40 since hes taking the risk (which i know ive said before). But all that has to be negotiated. You don't start low to open negotiations.

So why is everyone ****ting on Team GGG for 164, 50/50? Where did that come out of, thin air? Whatever it is, Team Ward didn't pursue it, they'd rather get their 2m for Azea Agustama as Zac Dunn is out.

They never offered Ward 164. That was nothing more than a comment from Loeffler to Dan Rafael. It was NOT a formal offer. To my knowledge they have never offered Ward anything. I remember Loeffler talking to Dave Iskowitz about 6 months ago and being told Ward needs 2 or 3 tuneups. Other than that I am aware of no discussions, other that the silly offer from Roc for them to skip Cotto-Canelo winner and fight Ward at a 50-50 revenue split sometime next year.....

I dont miss anything genius. YOURE the one who seems to think that anyone would offer Ward a piece of the ppv to fight a slob on the undercard.

And Jay-Z is pretty much a billionaire by now. I dont really think he needs to "alternately finance" Ward's participation on the show. If Roc thinks getting Ward in front of those ppv eyes is worth writing a check, they will do it. Same as they did for BET. If not, then they won't.

Or, maybe putting Ward on the card is simply another "aspirational statement" from Team Ward.

Ward's fee is generally believed to be $2m; whether Roc Nation pays that to him on the front end or the back end is up to the promoter of the event.

Jay-Z is pretty much a billionaire, but he's still a businessman, first. Any successful businessman understands that you succeed when businesses are self-sustaining. To assume that Jay-Z is supposed to just shell out money is silly.

He really doesn't need protection, he's unifying on HBO PPV, is mando for a megafight, all 4 belts in sight. The guy thats haggling with HBO over an undercard tuneup, with BET as backup option, needs it but you're doing a piss poor job.
