Either way he will be sparring tough russians
And keeping his weight down in the gym.

Guy needs a vacation as well. Spend time with his baby.

He will likely fight two tune ups in 16' and fight ward in 17'
He's on top of his game, why would he need a tune up fight much less two?

He should fight in Russia regardless if it's televised or not. Sitting out until the Spring is too long. kovalev is a big guy who obviously has to work hard to make 175, so the more activity the better.

Wait so for Ward to come out on the undercard he would have to face kovalev in the near future? No wonder he's taking a long time with his decision

Very tough to build stars having them fight twice a year. Once a guy is already a huge celebrity megastar, twice a year works. But not before then. Haymon realizes that. For some reason, HBO doesn't.
If that was the case, then GGG wouldn't be fighting as much as he does. Also, PBC and HBO is nowhere near a fair comparison as HBO only has a handful of fighters on exclusive contracts afaik, while PBC has dozens of boxers on their roster, so they should be putting on more fights and the better matchups overall. Kovalev is suffering the most because now he has to play the waiting game and hope that Chilemba and Barrera beat their respective PBC opponents.

I'm sure he's already made his decision - avoid Kovalev at all costs.

Don't blame him, Blame HBO who some of you worship. They don't have the budget to give fighters more that 2 Fights a year so they couldn't bring him back for a 3rd even if they wanted

An Exclusive HBO Contract has no benefits, if anything it seems keep someone like Kovalev from reaching his full earning potential if anything. HBO is important to boxing don't get me wrong, both HBO and Showtime is needed for the sport of boxing because it is no way you can squeeze all of these fighters on just 1 Network and give everybody their air time. However, that Exclusive Deal with HBO for Kovalev is holding that man back because in his Division, HBO has nothing for him, I guess they will try to show Kovalev vs Pascal II down our throats

ppv aint what it once was, hbo cutting its boxing budget year by year, most their hbo championship boxing purses go as high as 3 mill for the main event fighters. think they just want contracted fighters with good appeal, turn their focus into mostly ppv fights and less championship boxing broadcast to make their revenue.
