The two fights Floyd Mayweather definitely lost -
Jose Luis Castillo 1
Marcos Maidana 1
Then close fights -
Oscar De La Hoya
Manny Pacquiao
I'm offended that people would even dare compare an ATG to someone like Floyd Mayweather that is just disrespectful and totally uncalled for.Comment

Anyone who has studied the HISTORY of boxing, and kept their feelings at bay, would tell you that Marciano and Mayweather's records are not even comparable. Mayweather has crossed many weight classes and held multiple titles. P4P, half of his career has been a championship defense with quality opponents. People talk but their words never match facts.
FACTS:
Look at their opponents:
Marciano overall totals: 1536 / 529 (66% winning percentage) = D class opposition
Mayweather overall totals: 1394 / 211 (85% winning percentage) = B class opposition
Marciano first 30 fights: 560 / 307 (66% winning percentage) = D class opposition
Mayweather first 30 fights: 669 / 151 (78% winning percentage) = C class opposition
Where it really gets ugly is when you compare the last third of their careers
Marciano last 19 fights: 976 / 222 (78% winning percentage) = C class opposition
Mayweather last 19 fights: 725 / 60 (92% winning percentage) = A class opposition

I appreciate a lot of fighters from other countries. I just don't openly root for them. I personally find it funny if you're an Englishman openly rooting for Manny Pacquiao when he credits all of his victories to his people in the Philippines. Or a Canadian openly rooting for a guy that brings a Kazakh flag to the ring every fight.
Boxing is a nationalistic sport. All individual sports are nationalistic.Comment

If it's about retiring undefeated with no draws & comparing Marciano's 49-0 to Floyd's 49-0, Floyd's Floyd's is much more impresive.
In Marciano's 49 fights only 7 were world title fights(against 5 fighters) & the only known fighters(champs & exchamp) on Marciano's record are Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore & Ezzard Charles & out of those 4 mentioned, 3 were old & way past their prime cause Louis came out of retirement cause of economic reason's & wasn't even the shadow of what he once was, Walcott was about to retire the 2 times he fought Marciano & Moorer was already up in age when he won the "lightheavy weight title" so imagine when he fought Marciano at heavyweight. The only one some what still in his prime was Charles & in the 1st fight many thought Charles won.
Now in Floyd's 49 fights 26 were world title fights & between champions & exworld champions Floyd fought 24 & 3 were undefeated(Corales, Hatton & Canelo) 2 are already in the hall of fame(De La Hoya & Gatti) & so far 4 are sure candidates(Marquez, Mosley, Cotto & Pacquiao)
So I would put Floyd and Marciano as equal in there accomplishment. I don't subsribe to the heavyweight division being superior by default unless there were some incredibly strong punchers in the division, and in marciano's case all the strong punchers were past it.Comment

Floyd never beat an ATG fighter in his prime. So when one considers the feat of beating Charles...an ATG, it means a lot here. And Marciano never had a tremendous physical advantage over any of the men he fought, including Charles.

I don't think so, so to say equal I'm not so sure at all.Comment

You must have nobody to root for these days huhComment

Rocky Marciano >>>> Floyd Mayweather
Jr hit the nail right on the head, going 49-0 in the heavyweights matters much more because of the size differential and the fact that any one punch can change the game these guys need to be in top physical peak and Marciano was certainly that.
Floyd Mayweather wouldn't be able to do a 49-0 in the heavyweights that's a fact.
Its nice to see Marciano Jr giving his opinion I'd like to hear more from him he seems like a well educated man of the sport unlike some Floyd fans on here.Comment
