A normal person looks at this argument and sees: Marciano vs. Mayweather.

A Boxing Scene poster looks at this argument and sees: White vs. Black.

Your parents failed so many of you. It's sad.

Marciano's best wins are all against light heavies who moved up.

Mayweather's best wins are all against naturally larger men. Heavyweights have no more classes to move up.

Marciano wasn't a 250 lb. heavyweight though. I think he weighed like 190 lb. his entire career. He would be an undersized cruiserweight these days. So him fighting LHWs is a moot point.

You mean like Pacquiao? Mayweather has enjoyed a reach advantage over most of his opponents. Marciano suffered a huge reach disadvantage over most of his. Many of those so called LHWs outweighed Marciano in the ring.

Floyd's 49 contains many more champions and top contenders, which is why he's ranked higher.

Although i agree with Rocky Jr that weight is indeed a factor, i would say the weight is more pronounced in the smaller weight classes, where a lb or gram would have more of a effect. Thats just my opinion. Also they have an identical record but their respective opposition varies tremendously, Mayweathers 49 spans 5 weight classes while Marcianos was just the HW division. Still impressive nonetheless but i feel that "fans" are trying elevate Marcianos status only bcuz FMJ matched it...before the popular opinion was Marciano was a good HW in a weak era.

I think it was a case of sour g****s, because he lost a chance to tie Marciano's record to a LHW in Spinks. Also, Marciano's family & the media were hyping up the event, with Marciano's people hoping Holmes failed. Let's not forget, Holmes was not very well liked or appreciated, because he badly beat boxing's beloved and aging Muhammad Ali. As a result, he was a bitter A hole.

                      Rocky Marciano >>>> Floyd Mayweather

Jr hit the nail right on the head, going 49-0 in the heavyweights matters much more because of the size differential and the fact that any one punch can change the game these guys need to be in top physical peak and Marciano was certainly that.
Floyd Mayweather wouldn't be able to do a 49-0 in the heavyweights that's a fact.

Its nice to see Marciano Jr giving his opinion I'd like to hear more from him he seems like a well educated man of the sport unlike some Floyd fans on here.
