[QUOTE=LoadedWraps;16049469]As probably the biggest Floyd fan only second to larryx on NSB, I disagree.

I also have Maricano as a top 3 fight all time, and Floyd isn't in my top 10, but i'm also one of the most objective posters on NSB too, so there's that./QUOTE]

No you're not. Marciano top three all time is laughably ignorant.

        So he's not really 49-0.

Marciano never had a special referee to protect him (like Floyd's Cortez and Bayless).
Not true. Marciano's 26th fight vs Roland LaStarza would've been ruled a draw in most states back in 1950, but NY had a unusual tiebreaker like rule at the time that got Marciano a W. So Marciano had Jack Watson.

referee: Jack Watson 5-5 judges: Arthur Schwartz 5-4, Artie Aidala 4-5
Under New York's supplemental scoring system referee Watson had Marciano winning 9-6, so Marciano was awarded a split decision.

The WBC, WBA formed at the end of Marciano's career and the IBF and WBO didn't form until the '80s. If you want to compare the championship statistics of Marciano's record to Floyd's you need to use a 3-4x multiplier on Marciano's to compensate for "champions" being much rarer.

Also notable & seldom talked about with Marciano's record is he turned pro in Mar. 1947 & then turned back amateur & lost at least one fight to future actor & journeyman professional Coley Wallace in Mar. 1948 in the NY Golden Gloves.

Long time boxing fans and to be honest this "Record" I never really cared about it and I still don't! Means absolutely nothing to me because it hold no power what so ever in determining who is the greatest fighters ever

Floyd lost multiple times in the amateurs.

With fair officiating, Floyd would have several pro losses too.

Marciano defended his title six times. No matter how you try to spin it his championship numbers won't match up to Mayweather's. The level of competition is not even close to Mayweather's either. You're going to have to come up with something better than that.
