For sure it is, for me Haymon is a mixed bag, on one hand he's trying to do some good things putting fights on free networks, on the other the way he conducts his business and tries to separate himself and his fighter from other promoters and creating rifts in boxing is truly deplorable to me.

It's no coincidence this has followed him everywhere. First with Golden Boy and SHO and now it's continued on with PBC.

always going after the inexperienced guys

Let Beterbiev have 20 or so fights, then fight him.

I want to see the fights happen and it's a joke that one side has a offer on the table right now for a direct title shot and a 2-3 times the money he has ever gotten for a fight yet is turning it down refusing to negotiate to fight one more fight and force a purse bid to leverage a vacate. This is becoming like the franchise tag in the NFL. It started out being a tool for one thing but the owners are expoliting it. Haymon and a purse bid with any of his enemies means the fight doesn't happen. If he overbids it don't happen if the other side overbids like Roc Nation did he still pulls his fighters out. If he was consistent then you might get less people as upset but when it's clear that it ain't about the money and just blocking fights from happening it's pathetic. Why are purse bids outside of Haymon not going down like this? Why are no other promoters turning down direct fights just to fight a eliminator for less money?

I don't care who outsmarts who I just want to see the fights
You are pretending not to remember that Duva tried the "purse bid ploy" first only it backfired because she was unaware of the resources Haymon had.

Of course its about the money in this situation. Quillin was a totally different situation. You can't judge everything just based on that.

Her history suggests she is not operating with as much financial capital as other players in the game. SHe even is on record as not wanting to pay for VADA because of the costs associated with it.

Yes, Haymon wants to control everything so he can maximize his earnings. Arum tries to do same. Major corporations buy smaller ones and try to control the market all the time. Why are you whining about this now?

Getting outsmarted or outbid is not nefarious or illegal. Negotiating in a way to protect your interests isn't either.

As for the Kov/Bieterbiev fight-kov calling him out was nothing more than a face saving move to deflect from him pulling out o the purse bid for Stevenson. Kov doesn't deserve to be rewarded for that.

The fact that he's hounding a 9-0 guy and his team is pissed off that a 9-0 guy won't fight them. I can't remember any other time where a promoter with a unified 175-pound champion, a guy with 3 belts, is furious because a 9-0 guy who in all respects is still a prospect, won't fight them because he wants another fight to prepare. The problem is, his promoter locked him in to this HBO deal with no opponents ready to go. Why else would he be fighting on a date in November in Moscow, Russia with no American TV?

It would be a HUGE fight in Russia. There are already thousands comments on Kovalev's page in "vkontakte"(russian analog of facebook), where fans of Sergey and Artur talking **** to each other. This fight is similar to Cotto vs Canelo.
Duva having Kovalev fight in Russia next is a very smart move. I think she and Kovalev knew that Beterbiev's team would end up rejecting her offer, even though, imo, Artur himself truly wants the fight.

This could be a massive fight in Russia if it is publicised properly, and the tension, fued, whatever you want to call it, is allowed to simmer for a while.

I think that when and if it happens, even if there is a purse bid, it will happen in Russia.

c'mon you're smarter than that Hanz - stevenson and beterbiev turned down the fights (can you deny this?). Kov turned down a purse bid (so that the fight wouldn't get taken off hbo). You can't misapply the word duck here.

However, in this case, Kovalev is giving Beterbiev a shot at three titles, nobody even expected him to do that and that's rarely precedented, Beterbiev was lucky to receive the offer and financially GYM said everything was ok so this was not a lowball or anything like that. However, his team know full well that he's tied to HBO so what's he gonna do? Instead of making the fight happen they found a way to maneuver past him and get the paper title. Disgusting duckjob to me.

              And I like Beterbiev.
Stevenson pulled a coward move. You get no brownie points for that criticism because that's what you are supposed to do as a boxing fan. In this case, Team Beterbiev is looking to become Kovalev's mandatory and allow the fight to go to purse bid, so may the best man win.

If it was then why didn't the Quillen fight happen? that was the most money he has been offered to fight in his career up to date. And it was a fight he wanted. Stop trying to spin this like Duva is being cheap when she just offered 2-3 times what they make for fights. You can't scream Stevenson just wants the biggest payday fight and ignore Beterbiev turning down the biggest payday fight here or Quillen turning down the biggest payday fight. There is one consistent factor in all this Haymon refusing to allow the fight to happen outside of him controlling the venu. So let's stop this charade about it being about money or "resources" or one side being cheap.
Why accept a million bucks when you can make 2?

... This isn't about "favorite fighters", this is about Haymon willingly trying to kill anything that moves outside his "franchise"...
Did you read the article? He wants to become his mandatory which will force a bid which would let the promoters go toe to toe and the rights will be given to whoever bids the most money.

... Few days ago, Yvon Michel just publicly stated that this is a huge opportunity for Beterbiev (who isn't the mando) and that they will take an offer for a three belts shot in Moscow...
